Peep sights for a Rossi Puma

Hi

I want to replace the sights of my Puma for something better and was thinking about the Lyman, Marbles or Willians sights.
Has anyone replaced their Puma sights?
I called Williams Gun Sights and they said that their receiver sight for the Winchester 94 would work, BUT, the front sight would probably have to be elevated and that would be a problem, because the dovetail in the Pumas are metric and all american made front sight are imperial.

So I'm confused here, can it be done or not? Was the front sight height a problem?

The nicest peeps and fronts that I've come accross are Skinner Sights, contact them, they know their stuff. If you raise your rear sight(get a new one), prolly your front will be too short and need replacing. I understand the dumb Euro. measurements re: the dovetail, and Skinner sells new front ramps as well but, the spacing of the holes could be Eurodumb as well. Talk to these folks, I'm sure they will fix you up with the best of these kind of sights....Ben

You can drill and tap the side of the receiver for either a Williams of Lyman peep.

What holes are you talking about Ben? The only Skinner that will work is the one that replaces the rear sight on the barrel.

I'd go with a "Ghost" sight from Steve's Gunz and a Williams Globe Front Sight (which is what I did). Get the globe sight with at least 0.584" height. Be careful when installing the Ghost sight (it can scratch). With these two, you have an excellent "circle within circle" sight picture and lots of adjustment. No drill, no tap - completely reversable.

I just don't know about the spacing/size of the tapped holes in the Puma barrel, are they Euro? Is Brazil considered Europe? Ahhh...to hell with it, buy a used Marlin!

Thanks for your help guys, I checked Steve's and for the Puma you need to drill and tap, unless you replace the original sights and I wanted something different. So i talked to a gun Smith at the club and he said he can do all the job for about CAD$ 80.00
Also, I found Williams to be cheaper than Lyman and Marbles so I bought a receiver FP94/36 from Cabelas.ca

Brazil uses metric, we were a Portuguese colony with a massive Italian and Spanish immigration, among others. Not to mention the millions of slaves taken there from Africa...

The Rossi's have dovetails front and back on the barrel. No screws.

The Lyman is worth the extra money for it's quick adjustment and ability to remove the sight if you need to quickly. It's also got nicer windage and elevation adjustment with clicks.
