No the didn't, they corrected the classification as it was incorrectly classified to begin with.

you can't point to the T97 as evidence of arbitrary reclassification. The reclassification of the T97 was not arbitrary.

whether it was warranted or not is a whole other question.

They claimed they had incorrectly classified it to begin with, saying that it could easily be converted to full auto. They then took 18 months to prove it. How come they haven't done that to the Tavor? That is another semi-auto non-res bullpup.
 
They haven't gone for the Tavor... because there are not that many out there.

The T97 on the other hand, a whole lot of people have them on pre-order... and the importer brought a truck load of them... With them being non-restricted, they were afraid of them disappearing from "their" control.

They can't reclassify it and any "rumours" that they are planning to do so are nothing but bovine excrement. They were able to go after things like the T97 based on technicalities that don't fit the Cz-858 (such as claiming it's a converted automatic or could easily be converted to a full auto). I
