Unless you an find an app to make a 150 millisecond microphone react 2000 times faster then the iphone isn't gonna cut it. On top of that the iphone software incorporates automatic gain reduction in order to protect the system from excess noise peaks.

You may be able to turn off the protective software but you can't turn a cheapo microphone into an expensive calibrated free field microphone specifically designed for capturing impulse noise can you? This discussion has EVERYTHING to do with the design and construction of the microphone and its ability to react to a noise front passing over it.

Really? So this post by you was just an honest question and not dripping with sarcasm?

The funny thing is that I get to work with these devices all the time and you will never get to use one. What you drool over I consider everyday objects. I believe Charlie Sheen said it best ...... WINNING! :welcome:

You are free to make like a jerkoff and act all Mr Knowitall about a subject on which you don't know $hit or you can actually listen and learn something. The choice is yours.

I am done with this particular waste of my time.

This, and every other one of your posts in this thread drip with douchebag... the iphone question seemed innocent enough to me, why not just nicely answer the mans question, even if you regard it as silly. Maybe there is some history of previous bickering I am unaware of.

Regardless of your apparent knowledge on the subject, sounds like you are the one acting "like a jerkoff and acting all Mr know it all."

And yes, we are jealous of your cans, no need to rub salt in my wounds:)

I seem to recall in the old days when your version of "winning" meant a gopher hunt with suppressed rifles you had borrowed...Perhaps my memory is fading...

Regardless, if Glock wishes to witness suppressed rifle fire all he has to do is let me know and he can even bring his iphone if he likes...seeing as how this is pretty much a weekly occurance around here I am sure he can fit it into his schedule to make it out;)

He will also be undoubtedly impressed with the numerous 4 axis capable VMC's around here as well as other assorted equipment we have been able to cram into our facility.

The funny thing is that we get to work in a state of the art facility doing this while you spend time sweeping up sand from your bead blaster outside your garage door...Like you said...winning...

As usual your posts are lame, combative, condescending and insulting and as a licensed manufacturer of these devices you have the ability to add insight to this forum instead of know it all BS such as we see here.

Ya Peter..try not to be such a "douche"...your mouth is still makin a fool out of all the good you have done...will you ever learn..? Apparently not...

Guys, the other morning when I woke up to read the most recent post by Suputin, it didn't exactly make my day.

This morning when I awoke to read the replies you all have made to his post, you all put a smile on my face. Thank-you. Not because you rained on Peter's parade but because you called a spade a spade and that's what this forum is all about.

To set the record straight, I have had the pleasure of 'playing' with suppressors and full autos and I was surprised to hear they didn't make the cool sound you hear in hollywood films. Too bad really. LOL

The autos, on the other hand, are still awesome!!! lol

Ross, I'd actually drive across Saskatchewan and half way through Manitoba to come visit your shop. It might be something I'll have to do. I've got a friend in Winnipeg I haven't seen in many years either but he's a gun guy also and I'd imagine your shop would open his eyes to what there is available to him so close. I'll keep you posted on that one.

Thanks again and have a great day as well. :)

Thanks for the info. I have made some of my own and enjoy testing others. Good to hear someone who know what they are talking about.

Jimmy, when you're testing suppressors do you first pick the ammunition which would be standard off the shelf stuff, which would give you a db reduction base line and then taylor the ammo to get the noticable db drop or how does that work?
I'd imagine it would be different from handguns to semi-autos to bolt guns but which route do you normally take in getting the right combination?

glock-Depends on what you are going for. If you are comparing it to someones else s can you need the same- ammo-conditions,etc (preferably same day -test-same gun) and then you can see the difference. If its a different day- different ammo and gun the results can be quite different. Even the time between shots if you wait a long time allows more oxygen to get back in and increase noise.
If it's your gun and can taylor some loads and find the best combo.

Jimmy,

Saw your 408 Cheytac video on Youtube. Very impressive noise reduction!
Thanks it was a fun build and I'm still enjoying it.

Sa-pooh-tin arent you Peter who use to work at ATR? I can tell by the replies that you have submitted, still an A-hole! ATR has been so much better to work with since your removal.

Ok, I'm all for giving someone that deserves it a hard time but let's lighten things up a little. A while back I was surfing the internet looking for pics of suppressors and found these from Peter's website. They look pretty good. What I was curious about was how much db reduction these do and where you find a gun club with this much room around it because this looks like a gun club I'd like to belong to. Peter can you comment on the whereabout of where these pics were taken??

Tis true, who says he's at a range? Could be his back yard, firearms unloaded, taking pictures. Or a suppressor shoot in the USofA (have to make it to one of those myself). I know its stated he's a licensed suppressor manufacturer, but who even knows there not fake cans? I've seen GSG 1911's at gun stores with fake can's. Lots can be assumed from a photo, the media does it all the time. Heck, they could be airsoft guns even :p

I'm not siding with the guy, he's still comes off as a d1ck in his posts, and I think I talked to him once at ATR, and he's the reason I vowed never to do business with them (if he's no longer there, maybe its time I reconsidered) just saying we shouldn't do what we always accuse the media of doing.

All I'm say'n is that if this is a range, I want to become a member because, as we know, everything around here has been shut down. Olds range, the public range. Shepard range doesn't have any distance. The cops even lost their rifle range. Kind of pathetic yet Peter has miles of open field to take his restricted firearms to. Sounds perfect to me.

"prohib"

I thought, you could apply and get permits to test prohib stuff being a manufacturer though. How does that work?
Bussiness licences is really clear as to where you can discharge you firearms Prohib 12./12.3/12.5/12.6 and Restricted Firearms of a licencsed manufacture or dealer can only be discharged at a licensed range .
Only prohibs that a bussiness owns no personal firearms can be used in the bussiness for testing .If you move your personel prohib firearm into your bussiness inventory it cannot be returned to the persons collection it can only be sold to another dealer or destroyed when the bussiness license expiers or is not renewed. note :This applies for licensed manufactures .

Missed the part about "licensed manufacturer", didn't ya?

Missed the part about restricted weapons not being a licenced range? It doesn't matter what kind of manufacturer licence he has, he is still subject to the same restricted weapon transport laws as anyone else. These pictures were not taken at a licenced range. He is breaking the law by having those weapons there, suppressor, licence, and all.

Dude, be careful what you accuse people of....you have no idea where buddy is in those photo's. He could be in the U.S. for all you know.
