With all the talk talk on this forum on how great ARs are and always having wanted one...... I felt it was time to jump in the Black Rifle water. I wanted a fairly simple look to go with my nature (insert comments here). After reading Claven2's cheap AR build thread I decided I would go that route rather than buy a Nork, I just wasn't interested in having to potentially fight with off spec fit problems etc., associated with them. Also I felt if I built my own I would have what I was after from the start rather than buying a Nork, than adding on stuff that would bring me up to almost the same price. I spent alot of time finding the best prices I could for the equipment I wanted and "look" I was after and tried to go with as few suppliers as possible to keep shipping costs down. I sourced everything from only 4 places, Arms East, One Shot Tactical, ATRS and good ole Wood Joynt. Everyone was very helpful and fantastic to deal with.
I know someone will chime in with the NEA rifle option and it is for sure an option in a few months that I would have probably gone with but it's still in the future and..... I'm impatient. Besides, building is fun and really damn cool!! So far, this thing has been very reliable with no FTF or FTE or any problems. I've followed lots of advice and run 'er sloppy!!

Very nice! Looks like you missed the Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard in your list. ;)

I like the looks of the shorter MOE hand guard; I have the rifle length MOE on my Stag and I'm not 100% sold on it yet.

Since you like the Magpul stuff the only thing I'd add to your build is a MIAD grip.

Very nicely done and for a great cost too.

I was actually thinking about getting that rifle-length MOE and the AFG pictured above. What don't you like about it?
 
Very nice. Always better to build your own. You get what you want, instead of most of what you want.

I would just like to point out you purchased the YH-5M1 which is a Comp/Brake more than a flash hider.
The 5C2 is the Flash hider.

I facepalm everytime I see an AFG mounted on carbine length handguards.

Take advantage of that 11.5 and get a 11" Troy TRX-E and save some weight, and be able to actually use that afg.
