24inch barrel for waterfowl hunting?

Yes, you can use a 24" barrel for duck hunting. At most gunning distances, the barrel length is not going to make a difference unless maybe you are reaching for those very long shots. For the fun of it, I sometimes take my Wingmaster Special Field with 23" barrel out duck hunting. Not often though because it kicks the snot out of me with heavy loads.

I picked up a used Benelli M2 with a 24" barrel which I used for turkey this past spring. I plan on using it for geese this fall. Figure it should be good in a layout blind. At the distance you shoot ducks aand geese at, the 24" barrel shouldn't make any difference.A longer barrel will generally give you a smoother swing though. Cheers Bac4

If you're hunting with anyone else in a blind or boat it might be a little problematic. The shorter barrel would be a little louder for them.

In the past I used a 24 inch barrel on my Browning Auto 5.Worked well.
Hi 28 gauge you would notice a big difference in a duck blind with the same gun and a 30" barrel. I shoot 90% of the time also with a 25" 28ga as you know but for passing shots nothing like a long barrel.
looks like another bad grouse year for us this fall, dam rain will never stop. take care
