Sig 1911 TacOps owners - the good, the bad, the ugly?

Why do I keep looking at these threads.....my bank account can't take it anymore!
Wondering what the major differences are between the TacOps and XO models.

It's the function...most of the external extractors on 1911s have had issues. They generally sit too high. Also Kimber did them for a while and they were god awful to the point that people became skeptical of any external extractor on a 1911.

If you look at where the sig one grips the rim, or the old kimber ones or early S&Ws were even worse, they really only grab with the corner of the extractor because they sit too high.

The new E series S&Ws fix this and have a great interface with the rim, but they are the first good external extractor on a 1911.

If they do have it dialed in - and it looks like they do - then that will be a big improvement IMO. External extractors are, generally speaking, superior to internal ones.

The Sig one is okay, and I'm not hearing as many "it doesn't ####ing extract" problems as I did a year or two ago so they must have improved it a bit.

I hear ya brother, I bought a HK45, M&P45, and now a 1911 TacOps all this year (and its only August). Man oh man if the wife knew. Which reminds me to go change the combo on the gun safe. She burned me on finding the M&P45 in there when I didn't tell her.

No night sights on the XO
No rail on the XO
6 lb trigger (5 lb for TacOps)
No magwell on XO
No threaded barrel option on XO

Interanlly I'm not sure what the differences are, if any.

The mail lady just dropped my Tac Ops off, I bought a Blackhawk Serpa holster, not thinking about the square slide, with the rention screw backed right off it fits, but its snug and makes drawing difficult.

What are you guys using for holsters?

Safariland lists their Model 568 for Sigarms GSR Revolution 1911.

My Tac Ops also showed up today. All I have to say is wow!! This being my first 1911,the fit and finish is well done. What a great feel in the hand, trigger has a nice feel with a clean break.

I definitely see what the addiction to the 1911 platform is. This by far takes over as my favorite pistol in my safe and i haven't even shot it. I gave it the preliminary cleaning and we'll see what she does at the range tomorrow.

Not a Tac-ops but close enough. Here is my shameless pic plug. (Hey Krausb, PM me and we can set up a time for you to try the flat trigger)
