Hello,

Lately my 858 has been acting funny. If you push forward the action it will hold halfway over the magazine, if you push it all the way to the chamber it won't ####. If you pull back all the way and let loose, it'll catch and be ready to fire.

I took it to the range on the weekend while it was doing this, thinking it just needed a cleaning, and it shot 200 rounds no problem. I tried putting my 858 parts replacement kit from Wolverine in, and no dice. I think it's something to do with the actual trigger mechanism. Has anyone had this issue before or is it time to call up Wolverine?

Thanks

it will do that when: 1. the safety is off and 2. you close the action gently. IIRC it was the lug on the bottom of the bolt catching the sear. solution: pull it back and let it go or hit mag release if so equipped.

Don't ride the bolt. If you let it go forward on its own and it works, well you have a perfecty functional 858. Now get the NEA bolt release and things will be even better.

It's not rocke...never mind.:p

Sounds like a perfectly good gun to me, some owners with the gremlin would love to be in your shoes.

If you don't want it anymore, I'll take good care of her.

I'll have to take a video. Basically the action is getting stuck halfway unless I pull back and let go from the rear most position. It never used to be like this, and it doesn't happen when I have the safety on. Obviously the sear is having issues, so I was wondering if this was common.

its common if you have either a missing or a weak trigger spring (the thin wire one) , simply fix is to bend it back if its weak.

simply test if this is the problem is to hold the trigger forward while you guide the carrier forward.

also there are friction in this area where it gets hung up so i always apply wheel bearing grease after cleaning .

I thought this was the issue, the spring isn't in the same position as before and it's not making as much tension. It's kind of floating around down there, I wonder if Wolverine has spares to sell.
