Anybody bought a non-refurb SKS from marstar?

got mine and its great, get the 199 deal with the hard case. that way canada post wont damage your rifle in transit. Im glad i did. it feels beefier then others that i have held. but i have not a side by side comparison. it is also very accurate and they have all matching numbers.
 
pros: fat stock, generally more accurate than the others and brand new.
cons: wood is nowhere near as good as Russian, some rifles are better than others. My Marstar SKS was the worst I have ever owned though others have got nice ones from them. The one I got was all beat to hell with dents and dings from one end to the other, fit and finish overall was quite poor. YMMV but both rifles Ive bought from westrifle were far nicer for the same price
 
I bought one last year and it is in factory new condition... not a ding on it and shoots very accurate i can get 4-5 inch groupings at 100 yd's and after i practice a bit more i believe i can do better, buy one you won't be sorry.
 
I got one, it shoots great. It came with the shirt and the hard case. The wood is in great shape and it is every-bit as good as the Russians I have had. I say go for it.
 
I highly recommend a chinese sks from marstar. Its a great plinking rifle and a great gun to bubba with, if you feel like practicing youre bubba skills, and nothing lost.

The Russian sks is a whole different story... fire it first and if you get decent groups from it with mil surp ammo, Its worth a second look in keeping it as pristine as possible, just my opinion.;)

If it shoots like crap, go ahead and try the scope mount or new longer stock.
In other words bubba it up, it wont matter cause a rifle that shoots large groups is worthless in most shooters minds so making it look more tacticool might get you some money back on the EE.:)
 
Those Marstar SKS from China are very well build rifles, much better than the civilian versions and every bit as good as the Russian counterparts for 50% cheaper. There is a better than average rifle to dollar value, and ammo is cheap at this time. Its rifles like this that people learn proper shooting skills.
 
I got one of the chinese ones from moreguns. not really happy with the company, but I do really like the rifle, its just as good as my russian one (so far), hell , for the price, i might get another , just to keep around...

I agree, i really can't tell any difference between my Russian and my 2 Chinese Type 56's they all fire accurate and all seem well built.

50% cheaper? What price is that cause there are russian sks here for as low as $ 165. -$174. $195.. For $ 244. you can have an izzy.
And I don't have a chinese one yet ( would like one of the military ones) so where can I get one for $75. -$125.. I will order 2.

Marstar SKS

Have 4 from Marstar so far. They are excellent rifles and brand new milspecs, Russians are mostly refurbs. For the $200.00 they are the best deal going and most where built on Russian machinery and every bit as good as the Russians, likely better as they've never been used.

The tooling is from Russia and I am told that russians oversaw the setup and some of the poduction,.It is more the material and workmanship that went into the rifle,the stock is an example , however if I can get one cheap enough I will have one.I now have 3 Russian sks,all from Westrifle.com. Except for a few small marks on the stocks you would think they were new.I think in the end both are pobably comparable to each other. Plus, having so many sks and ak's out there makes it more likely that fairly cheap ammo will be around for a long time!

I've never seen these rifles @ 50% of the Russians, actually for a short time the Chi-Coms were $10-$20 dollars more:eek: $180 is what you should be paying or in that very near neighborhood. The stock on the Chinese is sh1t, made from Catalpa wood or something:confused: soft as a babies arse. I have big hands and I find the wrist too thick and the lop too short. Fit and finish isn't really there....having said all that it is NEW:cool:.
I would challenge you to find a new non-refurbished rifle in a Russian. You can however find a "light refurb", I would suggest Weimajack out of Quebec. He is a dealer and sells on EE. My '54 Izzy sks was only refurbed to the point of having a new laminated stock installed and numbered, beautiful and accurate for what it is. At 50m 2" groups all day long w/ iron sights all stock!
At 100m 4-5" groups all day long....My Chi-Com.....4" groups at 50m, @ 100m I'm lucky if all rounds print paper:eek:
You'll pay $200 for either of them so get both!....and at least 2 crates of ammo per rifle {in case of Zombie invasion:p} My.02
