Secondly, I have to say... WHAT a great bunch of guys to do this stuff with. Everyone knows the drill, set up, tear down, run sheets to this guy, pick this up, straighten that line.. It runs like clockwork.

Academic interest only, but what would be considered a 'decent' score?
By the way, big tip of the hat to TimK for getting through the program before the rain started...As always, a well run programme aided by the fact that everyone did their bit to make things run quickly...efficiently....and safely!
As always, I may know a few people when I show up, but getting to know your squad mates is always fun, and I'm always interested to see what they do, other than CQB of course, for sh**s and giggles.
I had my ass saved big time by another guy who could front me 50 rounds or so of .223 to make up for my own ammo that was sitting on the bench.....at home!
This was my second time out, and although my score improved from the first time out, my plans for 'world domination' were scuttled by my primary sidearm not making it out of the starting gate, and 'Mr. Backup' not being sighted in for the ammo on hand. My bad.....
I have decided that I need to come out more frequently (than once annually!), and will be signing up for as many of the matches as I can attend.

If you have been sitting on the sidelines....get off your 'bodacious butts' and partake!

I hope I can make it out to another one of these....

Maybe I'll be consistent and show up near the end of the year for my 3rd match in 3 years....

:D

It looks like that new rifle has worked out for you, a lack of jamming can really help your scores!!!:D

Yes the HK or HK mags were not helping, you shot much better with the shorty yesterday, I don't recall any jams or stoppages.

Many people outshot me with all different rifles and pistols, including some of the CF with 20" C7s and HPs that were twice the age of the people using them.

For CQB I don't think the long barrel really helps, if that is what you have (or are issued) then by all means bring it, but if choosing something for this type of match the shorter barrel seems easier to handle.

I've shot CQB with a 20", a 16" and a 12.5" (which I was using yesterday) and I think it's safe to say that it is the operator, not the rifle barrel, that makes all the difference in this game! :)

Absolutely. CQB is essentially a timed, standing bullseye match with some running/walking/reloading thrown in. As long as you're using a carbine/rifle that allows for reloads as fast as an AR, you're good to go.

As stated above, the barrel length on the gun isn't going to matter for this event. You aren't moving though rooms, negotiating corners, or moving from target to target with any great urgency. I've used a 16" gun both times and did ok. Maybe I'll try a 12.5" next time just for fun....

I think the CQB term is used because it isn't a typical service rifle shoot with ranges in the 100-500 length.

To me, CQB has a very different meaning than the 'Service CQB' shoot, but it's a good way to differentiate from typical Service Rifle.
