Who sells BAT Actions

The odds

of someone having one in stock in Canada is slim. You want the action only or someone who will sell you an action if they do the build for you???? I have heard of that.

I am looking at pricing out a rifle build and wanted to know the cost of the Bat actions. This is completely preliminary at the moment but I'd like to know cost before I start selling things to fund the project.

The configuration would be dependant on the cost.

A Bat repeater action will chase $1500.00 a single shot will be a little cheaper. New Kreiger barrel will be in the $450.00 range. Jewel trigger around $300.00. Add in the stock of your choice and you can get into the 3 grand range in parts fairly easily. Shopping around you may shave $500 or so off that but you get the picture.

I have a pretty good idea of the cost but it's a little harder to swallow when you say it. I am basically weighing my options in regards to various actions, and options. I thought about a TRG or other high end factory rifle but I have seen the BATs shoot and got a chance to handle it and a few other high end actions and I would have to venture a guess that I'd be happier with that investment then buying a factory rifle.

This is my rationale behind selling all the stuff I don't shoot. Have $4000 worth of guns scopes, gear, etc... you don't even shoot. So what's $3,000 for something I will shoot?

its not that hard to swallow! hmmm wait a minute..

any way, you COULD droped 3500 on a higer end facotry rifle. OR drop a few bucks more for a custom build thats exactly what you want and will shoot better. many of us have learnt that hard way for this. custome rifles are the kings of precision shooting and you wont find any thing better that comes in a box!

but for F*@& sakes, PLEASE take it to a good gun smith to have it built! iv heard a few horror stories of ppl goin to smiths that bite of more they can chew for a custom build,

edit : im not refering to any one here for the gun smith part, all iv HEARD is STORIES, from people iv met, i have no way if knowing the stories are true, so its not my place to point fingers, im just saying make sure you do your own research and talk to previous customes of the smith you choose

I have a smith in mind and he is the same guy that introduced me to the BAT action among other things. He is a benchrest shooter himself and nearing retirement. He has built a rifle for a friend of mine (thank you to Mystic Precision for the parts) and it is a 1/4 group gun all day long and he is just getting started. I figure if he can do all of that with a Remington 700 I'm sure he'll be able to do more with a single shot BAT or comparible action with a Jewel trigger and a Shilen barrel (yes I said Shilen).

I appreciate the advice

The best components money can buy don't mean a thing if the wrong person puts it together.

I have a lightweight custom hunting rifle that is was totaly butchered by a well known shop. Very disappointing after investing countless hours and dollars in assembling the pieces for a custom build only to end up with something that never comes close to realizing its potential.

In regards to a Factory rifle, the Sako TRG will never disappoint. Yeah they're expensive, and yes you can build a nice custom for the same money, but you can bank on the thing being a shooter. When mine shoots groups larger then .5moa I know it was me... not the gun.
