Newbie with some questions

Hi guys,
I'm new on here and new to guns. I just passed my course for non-restricted firearms and waiting to receive my purchasing permit. I'd like to purachse a CZ-858 since I love the look, it's pretty accurate and reliable and also within my budget. I'm not looking to hunt too much, might try it but not an avid hunter. I mostly want to buy this rifle to go target shooting.

I'm thinking of purchasing one from arma-coat.com since the arma-coat will keep the outside of the gun rust-free and looks also way better.

Here are some of my questions:
1- Is it worth the price of getting it Arma-coated? Since I won't use it for hunting and won't go shooting when it rains...

2- Is there something I can do to prevent the mechanism and barrel to rust when using corrosive ammo? I will still clean it everytime I shoot it, but I know the SKS has a chrome plated barrel. Is this an option to get the barrel of my CZ chromed? Is it expensive? Is the inside machnism and gas tude chromable?

Thanks for you time!

Welcome to the group.

Question 1. Yes Arma-coat is amazing coating and very tough, even if your not going hunting with it, it will give your gun a great look and amazing rust protection.
Question 2. I don't think anyone cromes the sks anymore, it has been done in the past, but as long as you clean it and oil it you will not have an issue, i have had my CZ 858 for 2 years now, and i've droped 3 crates through it, all i do is clean and oil it and it has never seen any rust.

Thanks for the info. Is there any way to get the barrel chromed anyways? Just to be extra sure? :D

When you clean your rifle, what exactly are the steps. I understand you have to field strip it, but do you like soak the parts in some substance to get it cleaned? Do you scrub them? lol. Just kinda new to guns in general. Might not be the best rifle to buy as a new owner of firearms, but since budget is kinda tight for firearms, I really want to buy something that I really want...hehe

With the Sks, that i had i field stripped it cleaned it all with normal cleaner, and then oiled and slapped it back together, same with my cz, some guys clean it with soap and water and thats all, really depends on what you want to do with your gun.

As for chroming i suggest asking in the Red Rifles forum, as there are alot of guys that have asked that before and may have answers for you.
