I don't see he value in the SKS-D with so many options fitting an aftermarket magazine. Or buy a CZ-858 which a much better gun than any SKS for little more than a SKS-D.

There are several variation of SKS-D... Some are simply a modified SKS with the AK mag being retained by the usual SKS mag release, some have AK type mag releases but appears to be modified and refurbished SKS`s (with many parts pitted under the new finish) and some are newly manufactured SKS-D. There are various stocks as well: military, monte-carlo stock, tumbhole stock... Some have the bayonet lug, some dont...

The best are the new manufacture SKS-D with the military stock and AK mag release.

The SKS-D was designed with the US civilian market in mind but Clinton closed off the US to Chinese firearms and ammunition so the SKS-D only sold in Canada when US importers no longer could sell them in the USA.

Someone has to man up and start selling SKS Chassis stocks like the ones for the tacti-cooled Remington 700s et al (with the aluminum chassis inside and laid up fibreglass outside). If someone came up with something like that, and maybe some after market SKS barrels (heavier?) I would be much more interested than some SKS-D.

I do not think I would buy one. If I did not have an 858 I would consider it depending on price.

Had one. Functioned perfectly, and I only got rid of it when the 858s became available. If it were cheap enough, I might buy another... sold mine for $400 with a bunch of mags and an aftermarket stock, so it'd need to cost a LOT less than that!!

i would be in if it was around the 500 dollar mark or less however i would like it to have a russian style sight system rather than the chinese.the chinese is to narrow and much harder to see

Nope, No bolt hold open, no stripper clips. Yes i have had several...
Check out this one from my collection, brand new unfired, 18.5" barrel, no bayo, monte carlo stock, MC5D i believe.
