One of the rifles used, a few Norinco rounds can also be seen. The paper you see is the packaging once you get through the wooden crate and the metal 'spam' container.

One of the 50 yard targets, as you can see not earth shattering but reasonable accuracy and fairly consistent.

Not nearly as dirty as the old Norinco 308 ... the patch after its first insertion. This was after about 100 rounds through the rifle.

Inside of gun wasn't too bad either ...

In conclusion, I am glad I got a case of this stuff. It is clean, consistent and non corrosive ... and the price makes it affordable to shoot 308 again. :D

Wow thats pretty impressive , much better than the MFS junk .. after 60 rounds it pretty much looked like a powder keg exploded in my rifle and barrel lol . and took about 3 hours to clean everything out .

Man that wood is GOOD looking
I think ill stick to my Winchester 150 gr for plinking and re loadable as a plus :)

15 buck for a box of 20 at lebaron :D:D:D

That 50 yard group is WITH optics?

Yep, didn't seem too bad to me considering its a 10 round group.

I think its about 1.5 - 2" over those 10 rounds and its meant to be a realistic evaluation of the ammo rather than cherry picking the best 3, or what have you.

Tell me about the optic on your rifle?

It's a compact 1-6 with first focal plane reticule. This means the reticule increases in size as you increase magnification, but the distance between dots remains constant. The reticule is horseshoe shaped (similar to IOR) and gets pretty big at full mag, but that's the price you pay for the first focal plane feature ... just takes a little getting used to.

Its made by Vector Optics (Chinese) and will retail here for about $300.

I expect M14Doctor may bring some in if there is interest.

50 yards?!? I thought they were at 100 yards, so I didn't figure too bad, but 50....wow pretty much plinking stuff. Will be too widespread for 200 yards.

Could just be my crappy shooting too :D ... it held up reasonably well at 100, but that was one of the clearer targets I had, without a bunch of sighting in shots on it.

Care to do a bit of a review on the optic?

I may see if someone else will do that, as I am not exactly "at arms length" in this situation. Here's a close up pic to keep you for a while. ;)

30mm tube, comes with a set of fancy railed rings .... I'm not a fan of the look, but they worked fine.

Illuminated reticule was in green or red, with several settings, windage/elevation was finger adjustable with the option to lock the turret with a hex key.

What are your thoughts on glass quality and daytime dot brightness?

Glass clarity wasn't bad. Certainly not as nice as my Leupold but reasonably clear. I'd have to compare in daylight to be sure but would guess at Bushnell in the same price range.

The reticule was etched (a nice feature), and while the illumination wasn't brilliant in the full light, it was helpful when shooting targets with a lot of black where the (non illuminated) dot could easily be lost. I wouldn't rate it at EOTech levels, as it did wash out in full light, but it was better than the illumination on the Millet DMS, which fades dramatically in full light.

Vector Optic's won't last to long on any M14. Even with the etech reticale. I have gone threw 4 of them before they told me no more warrenty returns. So the 4th 1 I shot it with my Vortex mounted on my M14. They last about 500rds then pack it in. You will notice your zero start to wander then think it's got to be something else but in the end you will relieze it's the scope. Although they are great for 22's and any other low recoil rifle design. Also I like there optic's selection.
