Would I be able to remove one from a rusted out carbine and put it on a severely bubba'd No.4 and make a No.5 clone? (I would use a competent gun smith). Only if its economically viable of course.
There are two crosspins. These may be difficult to remove. The flashider must then be pulled off the barrel. May be tight. The muzzle of the No. 4 barrel would have to be turned to fit.

The pins are tapered. One goes in from the left and the other from the right. You should be able to tell which way they go out by the size of the ends. After that, a good hammer, block of wood and a vice should take care of the rest. I've taken off two without any issues.
Those Numrich hiders are pot metal junk, they don't look the same and the bayonet lugs don't fit the bayonet.
If I had known about the pins being tapered, and one from each side, it might have been a lot easier to drift them out. The thing was, we didn't know that...
Ever tried driving a tapered pin the wrong way???
