Market value of Ruger AC556

Sounds to me like it would be a converted automatic. Very limited market for them since the buyer would have to have 12(3) status and wouldn't be able to legally take it to a range and fire it.
 
No, this one is neutered. The factory selector had been removed likely at the factory for export, but the rest of the components are the same. I should point out that in the photo, the original 556's didn't have the plastic cover either; it was birch wood identical to the stock.
 
If it was made as selective fire, and then the auto components subsequently removed, even at the factory, its a CA.
There is a Mini variant that has the factory flashider and bayonet lug, but which is not and never was an AC556.

I don't know if there are any AC556's in Canada, the market for converted full autos was mostly military surplus stuff, since the GB was the same gun without the CFA hassles I doubt anyone went to the extreme of searching one out (not to mention that the cost of the FA one to neuter would be very high, as it would most likely be a dealer sample in the US). If there is one it would definitely be prohib. I'm thinking 12.3(?)
 
As it turns out Tiriaq was right - the rifle was brought into Canada as a Mini14 thirty years ago, but its serial number indicates it is Series 180. From what I could find out, the AC556 and these early Mini14s were made using the same receiver. That explains why the rest of the components are identical to the AC556 including the flared factory M14 style front sight.

A couple of guys asked already - it might be up for sale soon.

so what you have is a mini `14GB then?

theonly ac556 i have shot has a 14inch bbl with the fron site on the gas block and a flashider.

if yours is the ac556 withthe front site on the gas block and flashider ill buy it, just ask your price.
