We Were Soldiers - Name that SKS

Blades were used in Vietnam although who knows what models were used during the French part and the American part of the war.
As seen here from the most famous victor charley ever!

Also on a side note most of the army during the later part of the US war was made up of Chinese regulars and there air force aces were secretly made up of Russains.

Who is pictured there and why is he so famous? To stand out amoung that group I am sure there must be an amazing story behind it!

As already stated....his name is Victor Charlie.....he is famous because the other end of that concrete lined tunnel {that he dug by hand, undetected} is on the other side of his enemies wire....there he will wait...eating what ever is in his pocket....until his enemy is asleep or unaware....if he runs out of what is in his pockets he will eat nothing.....yet still he waits....he may or may not have ammo for his rifle...it doesn't matter to him, he fights for his home, for his family....so he waits....he will give his life for his cause without hesitation....that is why he's famous....he performed a feat that Chuck Norris himself could never hope to accomplish....he beat the United states of America and the French foreign Legions single handed.....that's why he's famous:p

He also had about a million of his buddies the fall for him, and he looks as good as anyone possibly can with a lampshade on his head. :p

With the deals on the Chinese military SKS's I feel a bit of SKS fever coming on.

It didn't help that wife and I watched We Were Soldiers (rewatched for me) this weekend. She liked it - but she had a pretty funny comment that the Vietnamese Colonel had a Southern Vietnamese accent.

Now you know how Germans feel watching WWll movies, or Indians Westerns.:D

Grizz

Wasn't there same photo, but he is holding an ak47 instead of SKS?

Blade bayos were on Sino Soviet SKS's, because when the Russians gave the production machinery to the Chinese, they also gave them a whole whack of leftover parts from Russian built rifles. BTW, that sure looked like a spike bayonet going into the Frenchies' back to me.....

Like I said, it was a spike and there were mosins there too and it looked like yugo grenade launchers or m44s if they had flash supressors? maybe a svt!

That should not be too surprising. The only actors avialble who could even speak vietnamese were ones that fled the South after the fall of South Vietnam.

An also little known fact is that when the North and South Vietnam were created, people from the north moved south once they realized that the North was going to be communist. Some from the south also moved North as well. Although a lot stayed behind to fight the guerilla war against the pro west regime:(
