Hello fellow Gun Nutz,
I am looking to buy an action between the price range of 500-800. It needs to be the same profile action screws of a Remington short action in .308 as it will be going into a HS Precision stock built for remington SA. I am looking for features like side bolt release, sako type extractor, enlarged bolt handle, left side ejection, improved firing pin, fluted bolt. Now depending on cost I know I might not be able to have all these options, but it would be nice. let me know whats out there guys. Thank-you in advance for your time and suggestions.

Me thinks you're:onCrack: in that price range for the options you are looking for.
I get it you own a firearm and you voted Liberal. I understand you are not educated with an answer so put your hand down and go sit in the corner before I decide to spank you. Lets try to be pro active here.

Maynard is 100% correct and it is you that may need to go sit in a corner.

A bone stock untrued Remington 700 short action will run you $500 before anything is done to it. You may need to add a 1 to the beginning of your price for what you are looking for.

Again for the retards if you don't have an answer or an idea then don't post on my thread. And if you read carefully I state, "Now depending on cost I know I might not be able to have all these options". I am looking for ideas not brain farts. If something falls close to or over $800 so be it.

They just told you there is nothing in that price range. Why are you getting so mad when somebody tells you to get real? I shouldn't be recommending any actions to you, because I am concerned about your anger issues and owning a firearm.

But because you are so stubborn I googled some actions that fit your criteria but not your budget. Because that budget is whack.

get in contact with juanvaldez of north shore barrels he sells pierce actions that are the same foot print as a remington, they start at 875 i think for the single shot version.

there is nothing to be done to these actions they come ready to go just ad barrel.i have 2 of them and i would not go the route of buying a remington and then having it accurised its not worth it the pierce is a better made action hands down.my 2 cents

You may have to change your boots and go with a savage action when looking at the ECONOMY end of things. If you can do a bit of pipefitting you should be able to install your own barrel.
Enjoy. Bill

Nah, I bought a new 700 SPS and sold the stock, trigger and barrel, for a net cost of $244 for the action. A friend did the same thing, for a net cost of $250. Mine is away at the smith having the action trued, bolt knob put on, and a competition barrel fitted. Not sure what the 'smithing will cost, but if it's more than $300 I'll be surprised.

How?

the difference between a custom action and a remington is even after you have had it all worked over by your gunsmith it still is a remington action.dont get me wrong they do shoot very well and a have several that have been done and are shooters if i do my part.

the difference is in the tolarences of the custom are much more tighter and they are stiffer and better made no modifications they have all been done for you witch means cheaper in the long run.

i know for me i cannot run the same pressures in my remington as i can in my pierce actions.the remingtons just wont take it even with everything being done to them.and when it comes to resale a custom action will hold its valua better this is my experience.
