Different colour lenses for glasses

What colour lenses should be used and when? Is there a difference whether you shoot open or standard as to the colour lens you use? Clearly not red tint since it would make your dot or fiber optic harder to spot. I am curious as to whether grey or amber are better then the other colours in certain situations.

I prefer the racing red in the Rudy package. I also use the yellow when it is severely over cast or indoors. I could also see myself using the laser blue or laser orange.

I use clear inside or on overcast/night shoots. Oakley Gsomething or another in the sun. The G lens is designed for Golf and Shooters both. Takes away the glare and makes everything super sharp. Also does a good job of lightening shadows (similar to their sbowboard lens).
