Does anybody have experience with the Questar AR-15 with the Vulcan lower and the U.S. made upper? Im trying to decide between that and the Norinco M4. Im new to the AR-15 game so I was thinking I would start off with something cheap and learn from it before I spend a pile of money.

Check out this Canadian made AR for a couple hundred bucks more that is due to be released in October.

Ya, I had my eye on those too, but then it would probably take quite a while to get my hands on one, and if im going to spend another couple hundred bucks for one of those then I might as well spend another couple hundred and get an LMT and then maybe another couple hundred for something better and so on... There is just too many choices. Lol

We just built this one.

I'm interested in the upcoming NEA's myself..
I've never bought a firearm without waiting a few months, so timing is about right :)

The CDX-15 is probably the best bang for the buck you will ever see in Canada. the price difference between the NEA rifles and the Nirinco rifles is of multiple facets.

1). The monetary cost difference will be about $275.00 between a rifle made in China and a rifle made in Canada.

2). The value of having a rifle made in Canada by Canadians who are taking a big risk will be of far greater worth than that. They are going in the direction I want to see in Canada. They are making a good go of it.

3). They are making a quality Canadian made rifle that compares to prices for quality American made rifles in the US.

Also, to get an LMT isn't just a couple of hundred bucks more. It's more like $700.00 more. Do you get what you pay for? Hell yes, LMT makes good stuff. I myself have a PWS brought in by Questar, another company that's making a go of it. But I will be buying a made in Canada AR as soon as I have the cash. I will support whomever I can in Canada and on this website. (I am a customer of TSE, Questar, Frontier Firearms, P&D, DS Tactical, OST, CSC, Pro Line II & soon, NEA)

I say if you're buying your first AR, it may be your only one, so why not make it a Made in Canada one?

Just to clarify, the CDX-15 in the picture above is a Canadian made lower by Cadex that we stock. It made from billet aluminum 7075 T-6 with flared magwell, and enlarged fixed trigger guard. The front of the magwell is also grooved to improve grip.

We use Daniel Defense lower parts kits in our builds.

ive seen some posts about vulcan on us gun forums, they are largely regarded as a joke. also they are polymer not metal (yes polymer can be just as strong, but its good to mention anyways

id go norc over vulcan and NEA other both

side post: NEA any plans to build a flared magwell lower similar to the noveske one?

So the NEA stuff isn't being called the CDX-15 then?

EDIT:
f:P:2:
Okay so I got my wires crossed. I meant to speak of the NEA-15 (I still think Eh-R 15 was better)

thanks for all the posts. I think im leaning more towards an NEA-15 now sounds like they are a pretty good deal. Im not too sure what length of barrel I want though, any suggestions?

Why you would buy a chinese made AR-15 over a Canadian or American made one for a couple hundred bucks is beyond me. You get a product that is much better and made by a North American. Also for an extra 99 dollars Questar will change the Vulcan lower out for a RRA one I believe.

That cdx-15 sure is purdy! whats the price on one of those? I didnt see it on your website anywhere. what make is the upper?

That one is $1399.99

The fake can is not included, that upper now has an NEA Pheonix brake/flash suppressor on it.

So that rifle features:

Cadex Billet 7075 T-6 lower (made in Canada)
Ergo Stock
Ergo Grip
Daniel Defense Lower Parts Kits
Daniel Defense MK12 gas block
Daniel Defense Bolt Carrier Group
Daniel Defense Charging handle
NEA upper and brake/flash suppressor (Made in Canada)
S&J Hardware Barrel (Made in Canada)
Troy TRX Rail

That is a good question. I'm in the same boat.

Anyone know the effective ranges of the different barrel lengths?

Mabye NEA could chime in with the testing they have done with thier prototypes..

most report says it is the Vulcan polymer upper that fails, the lowers aren't subjected to the same stress as the upper.

Just to clarify quickly.... since I have one of the Questar ARs, the upper is not made by Vulcan, but supplied from a different manufacturer. Unfortunately Questar doesn't seem to want to divulge who's the maker of their uppers, just saying it's an US made upper chambered for the 5.56...

But what I liked about it, is that it comes pretty vanilla, and I can upgrade it as I choose... not bashing the CDX-15s (which are pretty slick, but I just don't have 1399$ to dump all at once)...

The NEA-15s are really tempting as well... and for the price difference, it's well worth it...

I'd personally stay away from the Norcs, they shoot well, but their finish is lousy... unless you plan on camo-ing-it-up, then why not??

I guess, what I'm saying it depends on how you like to play with your toys... the Questar-15 will let you slowly upgrade it to your liking, while keeping the initial cost low... the Norc will get you a gun for cheap, but don't count on after market parts fitting 100% (I hear there are some minor issues)... the NEA-15 will get you a good looking gun, and you don't even need to customize it much afterwards and same with the CDX-15s

One Shot does a great job at customizing them for you too so all the work's already done for you, but personally I like to do that kind of stuff myself.

Well, that's just my opinion anyways
