I am looking for a combination sling/bandolier for my rem 870. Something like this to carry some extra shells:

^^^ this particular one is a Blackhawk "shotgun shell sling". Do any sponsors carry this sling or one that is similar. I am not particularly interested in a bandolier only, as that would be an extra item to carry

I already have a 6 shell side saddle, but an extra 15 or 20 on a sling would be even better.

those S&J shell holders are pretty awesome, but at $100+ for carrying 8 extra shells is just not going to happen at the moment. I dont need this for competition, just to carry a box of shells without stuffing them in my pocket

hmmm found some on brownells that carry 6 shells for $25, might be worth a try, but I still would like the sling

i put a simple sling on when i know i will be carrying it for long distances and i dont have a pack i can tuck it in/strap it to.

otherwise, no - if youre hunting, or carrying it for 'bear defense' or whatever, it should be in your hand.

also keep in mind that 'dynamic' weight - thats moving around, unstable, jiggling, swaying, bouncing - is a lot more fatiguing than static weight thats securely attached to a pack, a belt, etc. i cant think of anything worse than a couple pounds of shells dangling from a sling on a shotgun.

if you dont believe me though - just head to your nearest Canadian Tire - bandolier slings are a hot selling item there, LOL. load one up with shells, attach it to your gun, and try it out. they have a great return policy.

ok thats pretty funny, but you convinced me that it is a bad idea. thanks!

Yeah someone I know wanted one for his gun and couldn't find one so I told him to make one by buying the two things and sewing them together. Turned out looking just like the one in the pic he had seen. Great for dressing up your gun, but useless for any practical purposes. Typical Hollywood accessory.

bugger, that's a great video, here it is.

OK, maybe I missed it, what's so great about this video??

There's nothing "tactical" about a bunch of guys blasting away in a line??

When they run dry the are all standing there looking at their kit to get reloaded.... How about knowing where your kit is and reloading while moving or at least behind cover, while keeping your eyes on the target area?? Situational awareness...

Hell, the one guy has a side saddle and instead of reloading from that, which is arguably faster than going to the vest, he stops and looks at his vest and fiddles around.

Kinda like those shell holders on the vest though. :yingyang:

Of course, that's just my opinion on that particular video. I'm sure they did more than static shooting there.
