Hey everyone
I'm thinking about turning my regular 91/30 Mosin into a sniper and have been looking at accumounts' PE mount. (I prefer split rings to the regular PU rings and also want to mount a modern 1" scope)
Anybody got any experience with it? Are they of good quality?

Mounts are made of steel and very solid. I have an extra if you interested for a round receiver.

Yup,they are decent,I rebuilt an ex PE sniper rifle with the mount and it is good..

A gent I know has an ex PE sniper rifle. It has the 6 holes on the receiver. He also has an original PE scope with mount, but had no base.

So, he picked up an Accumounts base, but found to his dismay that the holes are far from lining up with the original holes. :(

He is in the market for an undrilled base, orignal or repro, if anyone knows where one can be found?

This I believe is for a hex receiver low wall rifle.

The original mounts were drilled in place on the receiver in a jig that held them together, but even original bases are NOT interchangeable between rifles. This makes it VERY difficult to re-sniper a PE, but you can build a clone on a fresh receiver.

Same goes for any Russian sniper. When Ire-snipered a PU, I had to TIG up the rear hole and re-drill it to match the base I had.

Okay...if the new bases are made of steel, maybe mig up the holes, grind/polish them smooth, redrill new ones in the existing spacing for the rifle?

...not to mention buggering up the receiver heat treating.

I did see a post on a US blog where the guy migged the base on to his rifle...not the best idea IMHO.

Nothing like buggering the heat treating by the locking lugs "scary"
