With all the talk about the Marlin lever actions having quality control issues over the last few years I was wondering if the 2011 production has improved ?

no, because the wonderful folks at Lemington couldn't leave well enough alone.
saw 3 at WSS in Kamloops, not too long ago that you'd be hard pressed to cycle while facing a stampeding herd of turtles at 50 paces.

This is what happens when accountants not gun people are in charge of production. This is what happened at Winchester in 1963 and they very nearly trashed a fine reputation built up over 100 years.

I sent in a 336Y to Gravel Agency for crooked sights and was told I'd have a replacement in 2 weeks. 2 weeks came by, and I inquired and was told it would be another 6-8 weeks because the new shipment was all botched.

But a massive recall of all their firearms should smarten them up in a hurry. But if it doesn't, then. :HR:

Also, isn't June 2011 the shutdown date for the Connecticut plant? Where have they been relocated?

For what it's worth, wikipedia indicates that the work is being distributed among Remington plants in Ilion, New York, and Mayfield, Kentucky.

My 336Y was sent back three weeks ago.

This week the shop I bought it from got the gunsmith's report. 7 defects, gun useless, refund customers money.

Guess I won't be buying a new Marlin anytime soon.

^^^ for sure, You'd be way better off to source out an older one in good shape, they do come up from time to time....I'm keeping mine though.

Bought a new one a couple of years ago. Hated the feel. The stock was loose and the "wood" was bland. The gun felt like it was made of plastic.

Now I have two old ones for the the price of a new one. And they probably won't be up for sale anytime soon. The quality of workmanship is 10x better. And accurate as well.
