I've been turning the thought over in my head for a while now on wether or not to get a Soviet TT-33.
I have handled one and I actually like the simple design and perpendicular angle of the grip believe it or not.
If there are any persons on here with experience, what are your thoughts on the pistol as far as accuracy and reliability?
I've read everything from "you couldn't hit a barn at 20 paces with one" to "impressive accuracy in the right hands" on the web.
Any input is appreciated :D

read the REST of the words on 'MORE GUNS SUPPLY" - THEN judge for yourself- apparently lots of vapourware spiced with non-delivery-

I ordered mags from them and they arrived two days later. As I recollect they had a booth at the Calgary Gun Show and they looked legit. You are not the first that I have encountered on this forum with a negative opinion of them. What gives?

There a good gun "avg accuracy"

I can hit a man size target no problem with it at 25M "so its better then barn yard accuracy" Mine had a weak return spring but a new spring solved the problem with FTF.

Buy it as a fun and historic pistol "not as a IPSC gun ;)"
 
The recoil impulse and loud report from the cartridge put it in the " way cool" category.
I went through a tokarev phase ( hence the moniker ). But the round always seemed way to hot to be true. I still ponder if the rds we get might not be a hotter subgun round...
I could only afford the norc version and the 7.62 X 25 mm rds broke 2 bbl bushings before I gave it up.
I found that snap caps helped aid in accuracy. Imprinting the trigger pull in my memory helped. Still I find revolvers to be much more satisfying to shoot; and I didn't find a Glock to be much of an improvement (accuracy wise ) over the Tokarev.
Mind you the several magazines of 9mm that I cycled through the Glock were rather minor compared to the 1000's of rds through the Tok.
 
After getting used to the heavy trigger, mine shot quite well. I managed about 6-8 inch groups at 20yds. The best thing about it though was when I went back to shooting my Glock17. Such a light and easy trigger(comparatively, of course)!

Give it a try. Its not like it'll break the bank to own one!
 
Buy it. It is a good gun and very very fun. I managed to go through a case of ammo (before prices went up) which helped a lot with accuracy. I have since accumulated too many handguns to fit in my safe and need to thin it out. Still can't bring myself to sell it.

The TT-33 is supposed to be the most reliable gun ever invented. When I fired it I was shocked at how stiff the trigger was though. Perhaps the trigger can be worked on to lighten it up.

I don't own any handguns yet because I have been waiting for three months for my rpal to come in the mail but thats another story. :bangHead:

The TT-33 will be my first handgun. The price is right and the surplus ammo is still cheap.
 
Just picked one up as my first and planning a range trip this weekend, will post a report when im done. I did notice that the mag doesnt eject like some other handguns i fired, had to use my fingers to pull the mag out, is this normal, or would a good cleaning and lubing allow it to eject ???
