Your favorite Grouse gun?

I've hunted grouse with everything from a borrowed single shot to my Benelli Super Nova pump. But I'd have to say the one I like best is my 12 ga. Franchi O/U. There's just something about hunting grouse with a two shot, break action shotgun that just feels right.

I had my sights set on an old 16 ga. L.C. Smith SxS once but the deal fell through. That would have been my preferred choice.

^I would say I agree with you. Even though I have several M37s (including a 20 gauge) when I grab the Ithaca/SKB O/U, bingo! The perfect shooting wand for upland birds.

I just bought this used Parker Reproduction off GunsInternational. Cutting the red tape to get it home now. 20ga, 26" IC/M. Double trigger as it should be.

Christmas will be early this year. :)

Favorite grouse gun is my Citori Superlight Feather in 20g.
My fave two fellas I'm taking grouse hunting this season are in the lower picture.
Life is good!

Very nice gun and an even better choice of pups! I am not knocking your Browning, but I just love Weimaraners, I have three of them myself. Where did you get him from?

20 gauge

I have used 20 gauges for grouse the last 38 years. I have a new Ithaca Ultralight, a Berretta Technys Semi, a Savage 22/20 Combo gun. Funny thing is my favorite is my 38 year old Remington 870 Lightweight. I've shot more grouse, ducks, and geese with that gun than all my other shotguns combined. I hope to pass that gun along to my new grandson one day. However I do have my eye on a Franchi Renaissance O/U that I've been looking at. Time will tell.

Currently, a 12 ga. 28" Union Armers (Grulla) box-lock ejector SxS. I'd prefer an AyA
No. 2 sidelock or possibly an Arrietta in 20 ga, but that hasn't happened ...yet !

My old Ithaca featherlight 16 ga is my favorite. I have used many others over the years in different conditions but for my absolute go to favorite, it is the one. 24 inch barrel with a poly choke and a green fiber optic front bead.. Light and hits them hard with a 1 oz load of 6 shot.

I have a old Jukar .45cal percussion rifle that a previous owner didn't take care of and the rifling was shot.I got it cheap and load it with BP,nitro wad, fiber wad,#6 shot and a overshot card. It's a hoot to shoot and the only problem I ever had with it was proving to a warden that I wasn't hunting along a road with a rifle.
