Who is going? Hotels in Cambridge are full! Not much information coming from Galt about shooting squads etc.... Ability to get on certain shooting schedules........ No credit card booking.....Well.....

Yup!
It was not easy to get information, there is no online registration, no credit card payment and only a $100 mail in deposit requirement. My email was basicaly answered a few days later into the weekend with no information except to locate the Galt or CNSCA website and go from there! Go figure!

Anyways, the check is in the mail! I will arrive Thursday night in Guelph. I hope to shoot the FITASC Friday.

I am a bit curious that a club that only shot NSCA targets has the Canadian Nationals and asks for a NSCA # for the Canadian National!

I am covering the shoot as a major for ClayshootingUSA.

Was a ref for FITASC today at Galt, went well! The fog in the morning pushed start time forward a touch but all in all was a good day. Lots of chirping, lots of encouragement, lots of new faces to meet from all over Canada. Every shooter I spoke to said that this course was one of the hardest they've encountered. Expecting lots of sponsors and corporate tents to be set up showing off new gear and products for saturday and sunday. Saturday I'll be there helping out again, maybe reffing, maybe not, come say hi!

I'll be the tall 22 year old with the confused look on his face probably.

I had to cancel at the last minute Tuesday. I lost $400 to the pr kcs at Holiday Inn, no refund policy. I donated my $100 deposit to be given to the lowest FITASC shooter so that he or she can buy practice ammo.

Jon, no disrespect, but how many FITASC shoots have you reffed? To ref a National one needs many years of experience to be able to properly negotiate the few rules of FITASC.

BTW, how many shooters are signed up?

Jon don't be offended. Henry, how many FITASC shoots do we have in Canada in a year? I shot the Nationals last year and the reffing was good. Most of the referees are volunteers. The knowledgeable shooters on the squad/shoot will straighten out mistakes.

There are a number of shooters that shoot in the US FITASC targets. I have seen many of the top shooters in the World take advantage over inexperienced refs, this for nearly 20 years of shooting FITASC Championships. I can assure you that if someone can take advantage for a target, he will! I have seen some of the the top US shooters bully a ref to get a reshoot. One of the top Brit shooter is very well know to do bully his way! The best refs are the Brits and Germans as well as some South African.

Are there refs for the sporting?

How unfortunate. Big Bob, Gilles and Glen were looking forward to seeing you. :rolleyes:

Weather has been pretty bad. Huge storm went through this afternoon with more forecast for tomorrow.

I'm not shooting. Other more pressing commitments for me too.

Last year at the nationals at Carstairs Ab there were no refs. The shoot was run like every other registered sporting shoot I have attended. The squad pulled, called targets and scored and made decisions on re shoots etc. Not saying it is right, but that is the way it is.
 
I donate my time to help the event my home club is hosting, a club which I have been actively engaged in competition shooting at for over 15 years. I take no offense from a person who wasn't able to make it out. There were no arguments over the targets I called, or the scores I recorded, I adhered to the rules to the best of my knowledge and was happy to help out! Good feedback was received from the certified refs as well as the shooters and I was offered the opportunity to take the course and become a certified ref for the discipline of shooting, looking forward to it and looking forward to seeing new faces tomorrow at Galt.

We had ref's on each parcour that had been trained, and certified by Mr. Orr. A very qualified and knowledgable ref. All of us that ref'd had shot FITASC before in other countries. THere were some newbies, but they had helpers to watch rules and shooters on each parcour

I am talking about Canada. There are not too many Fitasc shoots in Canada. I have been shooting in the US (NSCA) for a least 5-6 years and I agree it is a different story there. At the Nationals there are a few shooters who shoot Fitasc in the US and at the international level. A lot of the shooters at the Nationals are mostly sporting clays competitors.

Thank you for your contribution and I have no doubt you did just fine. You do not deserve crap from people like Henry.

If you get a minute ask Big Bob about Henry. You'll find out he's nothing to be concerned about. He's a legend in his own mind.

My comment which you quoted was responding to Henry when he asked about the sporting. For the English sporting I did not see a single ref of any kind, volunteer or otherwuise.
 
Claybuster, I have never seen you at ANY World, Euro, African, North American or Canadian Championship! As for "Big Bob" he has not been at ANY World, Euro, African, North American championship! And I don't care what of any INEXPERIENCED comments! I have shot nearly 20 World, a dozen Euro, 3 African, a dozen US and more than a few REAL Canadians. What have you? I have organised a few World, NA, Canadian and regional Championships. And You? I have won a few and placed well over the last 30 years in clays. I have won one of the biggest clay shoots in Canada, the Tony Sport at l'Acadie with over 600 guns. It was the second Canadian ALLROUND but the biggest. I won the Sporting and the OVERALL, skeet, trap and sporting. AND you?

I have had health issues recently but am coming back with a strong performance at the Great Eastern Lobster, even with a FEW borrowed guns. And YOU? I have a gun room with probably over 100 trophies and an office with some 30 or so. And you?

And a few more! Have you ever visited, been invited to a cartridge manufacturing plant or gun manufacturing plant. Have you EVER had the chance to do ballistic testing of ANY ammunition including everything from 223 (5.56MM) to 105mm? How many patents do you have? I have three and am writen up in several doctorates. Who is BS? It is unfortunate that we do not meet face to face, the outcome would be satisfactory!
