Got my PAL some months ago now and have been researching a bit about different shotguns etc. Wondering where the best place to go for a shotgun in the Hamilton area is. Don't feel like driving all the way to Vaughan to BPro. Also wondering if there is a forum for buying used shotguns... Strange that you can't post on Kijiji:)

check out fishing world off highway 20. Just make you shoulder each gun and see what fits you and price it out. small shops at times are more expensive. you can always price it out first and check out cabelas. Just make sure you shoulder them.

Cabelas dot ca has the best prices on shotguns that I have ever seen.

Most of their shotguns are at least a hundred bucks cheaper than anywhere else.

Al Simmons. Call in advance and see what they have in stock.
Or, you can take the drive to Mississauga or Markham (preferred) LeBaron.

Personally I dont like bass pro, I find that if your under 40 the service you get is next to none, like they think because I am young that I cant owe guns. You can always look around online and have it delivered then you dont have to worry about how close the gun store is.

Fishing World on Barton St. East close to Centennial Parkway. If you go in on the weekend ask for Jack or Dwight they are very knowledgeable and will help you out.

I'd say fishing world
Since they're a fishing/hunting shop they have a good selection of shotguns
If you're willing to take a drive goto erie trackers in port colburn
Lou is great and won't bs you

I used to go to Al's all the time, loved the variety they have, but I hate to say it, they're expensive and their selection isn't nearly as large as some stores that are only about an hour from the Hammer. If you're willing to make an hourish drive, try out Goble's in London too. There is one in Tillsonberg but the selection isn't nearly as large as the London store and I find the distance ends up equaling out to be about the same, but maybe that's just me. Otherwise I'd try Fishing World like everyone else has suggested.

Hamilton is a reasonable drive from me, so I was hoping Al Simmons would be a decent choice, but I'm not too happy with what I've seen so far.

They have very few firearms listed and fewer are priced. To me, if a dealer is confident in their price, they post it. Eli's in Simcoe does it. Cabela's does it. Site sponsors like SFRC and Wolverine do it. To be honest, all things being equal, a small price difference (5-10% on most items) goes to the local shop because I want good, local service.

Eight days ago, I emailed Al Simmons to request pricing/availability on some firearms and accessories. Haven't heard back. Now, if they can't be bothered to service me BEFORE they get my money, are they going to care more AFTER they get my money?

I've had contact with Wolverine (via email and these forums) and its not taken long to get an answer either way. No, they're not local but good mailorder service is better than crappy local service. And the UPS guy is local too...

yes but the price does change over time... some time for the lower, most higher when I buy...
