why the hell is the price of 7.62x39 climbing?

Sounds like the business principle of every crack dealer out there.... they get you hooked with the cheap stuff, then when you're hooked they jack up the prices just cause they can.

It's still cheaper than other calibers though...

tons around, more on the way. Why is it up 40-60 bucks a crate? pretty much an endless supply

Yea it looks like it is actually coming down,,with the 192 for 1320 and marstar throwing in a $75. sks with a crate of 1400 @$279. and Tradeex whispering about cheap 7.62x39 this month. Looking good ,I think this is just the start!

Once one goes, the others follow. And retailers are always testing prices. That's why you see it fluctuate. 7.62x39 is out of step with ammo. prices in the Canadian marketplace. Everything else besides .22 is expensive and retailers are latching onto that. It's time to roll your own and let these retailers sit on their stock. Let them sit on huge inventories and then the sharks get desperate to sell and then you see prices go down again.

Law of supply and demand will always dictate prices.

If we all stop buying ammo...the price will come down...if we all buy a lot of ammo at the same time the price will come up.......simple as that.

The last 4 cases we brought into the shop cost us what we were retailing it for last year. The shops aren't increasing the price to "test the market". Get you head out of the tinfoil. :onCrack:

Last year we made $60 per 1120 round crate of surplus. That barely covered the shipping and insurance.... This year we are getting 1400 round crates with 2- 700 round tuna cans and the price went up $60.

I roll 223, 9mm and 44mag. I save even more $$$ casting 9mm 44mag from free wheel weights but the next time I find lead, it'll cost me $$$.. But still nice savings.

The only ammo i need to buy is 7.62x39 and .22lr... I still have around 1500rds of 22lr b/c I lost interest shooting it since rolling 9mm cost the same as shooting 22lr. I think I paid $179 for a crate of 1120rds at Epps two summers ago. However, I think I still have at least 800rds left. :)

I still have plenty of shot gun shells left. 3 boxes of 12 gauge 250rds and barely shot any of them. I'm not really a shotgun man but the ammo was cheap so I stocked up. haha
