...who thinks these 10/22's with the pink laminate stocks look like someone got drunk and puked up their Pepto Bismol all over the thing? what the hell were they thinking?cp:

They were thinking that a lot of wives and daughters would appreciate it and maybe get into shooting. My girlfriend loves my 10/22 and it is one of the only guns of mine she shoots. She thinks the pink stocks are great and I will probably end up buying one for her, so Ruger is pretty smart actually.

Marketing son. Captivate a larger market to increase sales. Who cares if it has polka dots?, as long as it gets new people into the sport. You dont have to buy one you know, if its something you have been wrestling with?lol.

I know a couple girls who often tell me how much they'd love to own a pink gun.
That being said i secretly think they are a few screws loose for wanting a pink barf looking gun, but i dont understand women much anyways.
Like womens clothing...I was folding clothes the other day and my daughters clothes were crazy, some of it was like just pieces of loose, unusually shaped fabric that was un discernable as a garment of any sorts...

If it gets more people into shooting,I don't care what color it is. I know my daughter would go for the pink stock.

I took my daughter in law shooting for the first time this summer. She loved shooting my 10/22. She is now doing her PAL/RPAL course in October. The first guns she wants to buy are a 10/22 with the pink tapco stock, and the SIG Mosquito in Pink. More women shooting is nothing but good for our sport, and helps counteract the lies of Wendy C and ilk.

I can hardly wait to see the reaction to the Blonde guy carrying the Fuschia coloured Bench Rest or Silhouette rifle!

The Pink rifles, hammers, screwdrivers, and many other items are intended to sell more product to a market that is approximately half of our population.

If it helps to introduce people to the sport, then I am all for it.

And the shooting sports needs all the help it can get!!:sniper:

What were they thinking? They were thinking "we have an un-tapped market we could be selling guns to, what would be the cheapest way to get women/girls interested in our products?"

They don't appeal to me, but I'm not the demographic they had in mind for them either. The opaque, Pepto-like color is kind of nasty...but the pink laminate one is well done.

I think the idea that the colour of the gun somehow makes it more acceptable to women and girls in general is perpetuating a stereotype. However, if someone likes the colour - have fun. Maybe they should offer more colours too.... florescent yellow and green, safety orange, baby blue,...

Personally, I think the marketing people who come up with "we'll make it pink so women will like it" have rocks for brains. I wonder what the sales figures are like and whether their actual sales demographic matches up with their target market.

You think there's a target market where pink guns appeal more than to the female market?
Cuz, I don't know any guys that dig pink guns..
now that I think about it though, I think the people really buying these things are dads for their daughters, definitely not sons, and very seldom women for themselves.
save for pfi ;)

I've met the owner several times, nice lady, full of energy (high strung) and she's running a quite successful business. My sister has bought almost one of everything they sell.

I feel the same as the original poster but about all plastic stocks, gunstocks should be walnut, nice walnut with lots of figure, distinctive.
