Alright so lets start the 2011 season's Deer and Moose hunting threads! I shot this moose last saturday, 30 minutes into the season. He came in 15 minutes after I sat in my tree stand, went straight to the female lures I installed the same morning. He stayed around the first lure for about 5 minutes but wouldn't give me a good shot and let me tell you that those 5 minutes seemed like forever to me.

He finally started walking towards the second lure which was farther down the trail and gave me the shot I was waiting for and standing at around 5 meters from me. I shouldered my crossbow, aimed and fired! I could see my arrow sticking out of its body and it was a nice lung shot. We waited an hour just to be sure and then started looking for the moose, there's still a lot of vegetation out in the woods and it was really hard to find it so we had to get help from one of our four legged friend... The dog, a Cane Corso, took about 2 minutes to find the moose and wouldn't stop barking until she found it! Let me tell you guys, she was a proud dog! lol

So here's my 42inch wide Bull moose and let me tell you guys I was a very happy man when I got to see the results of my hunt! So now I should have my freezer full for the upcoming Deer season :d

Congrats. Very nice bull. I am envious but I will get my turn Starting the 8th of October zone 26. What are your female lures? In my experience in moose hunting, either we shoot on the opening morning or we spend a week not seeing anything, so be proud of this one.

I was in Zone 27, I used Ferme Monette's female in heat. I use a 2 inch plastic tube about 10 inches long with holes drilled all along the tube and I stuff it with a rag soaked with urine
 
Thanks guys! Now I really don't know what to do with my week off, I wished I could've streched it until the end of the week but when this bad boy came out I had to take him plus I don't think anyone around here can afford to let a moose like that go, who knows when I will be able to take down a moose again and even take down a Bull with a nice rack, it takes two tags for one moose here in Québec and I don't know any hunters who wouldn't take such a nice bull!

So now the wife is happy since I'm home all week but I'm planing to go out again with friends to plan the upcoming Deer season!

I've got a tag for any bull just north of my place that's good till months end. Haven't been out yet so after seing this thread earlier, I grabbed my rottweiller, my YJ and my 7mm mag and took an afternoon cruise :D saw a mulie doe and a cow moose but no bull.
