Hey all

I have the chance to buy three winchester 94's. Now these are all unfired! All in 38-55 and all have the same serial number except for the letters!!!
All in the original boxes, as they were shipped and with papers.

1. Alberta Diamond Jubilee Comm
2. Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee Comm
3. Canadian Pacific Centenial Comm

So these are a matching unfired set and I was just wondering if I should pick them up.

He paid 3000 for all when he bought them and now wants 3500.

What say you all!!!!

There is not much demand for those commemoratives. I would say their fair market value is considerably less than what he paid for them. In my opinion, $3,500 would be way too much.
 
The 2 diamond jub. ones may draw $800 ea......but even $3K is too much in today's market, beautiful rifles in a great caliber, but market got flooded by commemoratives starting in the 60's and remains so today...IMHO.
 
Way too much in my opinion. If you want to spend 3k on Winchesters look into 73's or 1886's. If you buy original unmessed with rifles they will appreciate way more than commemorative junk.
 
i know a guy that is trying to sell 20 commemoratives for the last 2 years if you buy them all you may get them for less then 300$ each all new in box . theses things just have nt held there value 20 years ago thy sold for much more then today DUTCH

+1 They made 2700 of each rifle. (made in 1981) The only thing great about the set is identical serial number...but you have to find the right collector!
I would get the Colts before!

i wouldent call a commerative rifle junk there pieces of art but like others have stated the 3500 is way over what there worth and i dont think he would have paid 3000 for them when they were released either my dad picked up a set of canadian commeratives matching carbine and rifle for i think 450 each when they first came out i think there now worth about 1200 unfired in the boxes with papers
 
Sorry, just my point of view but if you compare a Winchester commemorative with an 86,94,95,92 or 1873 Winchester that was produced around 1900, the commemorative looks like junk.
 
Over all I think Winchester over did the commemorative rifle project. I do not like the looks of the gold plated ones, they look tacky.
