Leupold Golden Ring Spotting scope

Hello guys I am looking into a Golden Ring spotting scope do you have any experince with these? How do they compare to the Swaro scopes?

I have a golden ring spotting scope. The swarovski are amazing. My buddy uses one as a professional guide. Nothing like it. If you got the money than go for the swarovski. The only thing i can say about his model is that it is huge.I do not remember the model he has but it was up around $3000. I have no complaints with my golden ring. i like how compact it is. Great design.Gets a small small small bit of haze around the outside on full magnification on sunny days. I hardly use it on max setting. Usually around 15-20 is were i like mine.Rugged as h@ll. First day i got it, it took a faceplant off the hood of my vehicle onto the ground. Don't shut the door when its on a tripod on the hood of your vehicle. Did this twice now. Not a scratch anywhere.Another one is the mark 4 spotting scope which is awesome. I would/did take it because of the reticle features....unfortunately she had to go back. Eyes were bigger than my wallet. Great glass.That is next on the list though....Mark 4 Spotting Scope A++++.

I have had one for 7 or 8 years. Great scope. It has a 1 inch eye relief and is very compact. Very clear and light. The folding mirror design is also very bright. You cant go wrong with a gold ring scope.
 
Love mine although I do not have a lot to compare it to. I would like a little higher magnification. Low range optics are great but thats what my binos are for. If i were to try something else it would be that vortex razor scope but that's a little more dough.
 
The Leupold Goldring spotter is a great scope in that price range...and do yourself a favour and buy it out of the States. They are $1199 new down there.

Leupold HD Spotter

I use to have one but upgraded to a Leica Televid 62mm and just now upgraded again to the new Leica 65mm Televid APO :)

Leupold introduced a new spotting scope this year. It's basically the 20-40x60mm Golden Ring HD but with a few improvements.

The new scope is a 20-60x80mm HD, Boone & Crockett in name only.

No B&C reticle.

I purchased it from Wolverine Suppies for not much more than any U.S. online retailer.

Thats good for him to know then...go where its cheapest.

I am not sure about the new scope, I have seen pics of it and looked at the specs...
 
I found the 20-60X80 was way too heavy for me. Part of the reason I like the 12-40X60 is it's way more compact that a 60 mil swaro or leica. And at 12X you can actually hand-bomb it comfortably by gripping it sideways. There isn't another spotting scope in the world you can do that with.

BUT: If you pull them out of the states, keep in mind that Korth isn't required to any sort of warranty on them. As the official Canadian importer, they're only obliged to service their own scopes.
 
The Leupold 60mm....37oz & 12.4" long
The Leica 65mm.......39.33oz & 11.32" long

Not much of a difference in size between them now...except the price of course. Being able to hand hold it isn't a factor I consider when buying a spotting scope, thats why I have binos.

I would be shocked if Korth refused to do any work on a leupold product. I use to have an old fixed power Leupold scope and I had to send it to Leupold US to have work on it but that was because Korth told me at the time they did no work on spotting scopes at all. Service was still fast and good.

But like I first said the Leupold HD is a good scope in that price range...but will never be in the Leica/Swaro league.
