Not the caliber, I know that to usually be either 9 or .40.
I saw a list a while back of the departments and their sidearms and it got me curious...what brand of ammunition do they carry?

Vic PD carries Federal Hydra-shok.

Is that current? They issued/carried the Federal Hydra-shok circa 1995 when they first went to the Glock .40 cal. Eventually, went to Winchester 180 gr JHP's [the one earlier known as the Black Talon]. Then circa 2010 were using Speer Gold Dot 180 gr JHP's.

As a matter of fact I believe you're correct sir.

Whatever they can get cheap that also performs well, they'll have an acceptable list of cartridges to choose from, offer to buy a large quantity and let the supplier bid on it. It's sad, but we live in a low bid world.

They use A-Zoom snap caps so that they don't hurt anybody because the SIU budget is getting cut in Toronto.

is there still that debate about the black talon ammo? i hear hydro shock is pretty popular for hollowpoint in some police forces. i hear the CF uses bang-bang ammo. thats the ammo that you load up and scream out BANG BANG when you pull the trigger. i think the liberals implemented it and it's still around today.
