Hi forumers,

I own a Cooey Winchester Model 84 in 28 gauge and I was wondering how much this shotgun could worth ? It is in good condition and only have normal wear. It was the shotgun of my grand grand father so I think it is pretty old. I've looked on the internet but found nothing on this particular model.

Thank you all

Of all the gauges in the 84, and it's younger relative the 840, the 28 gauge is the least common that I know.
Mike Webb is right on with value, but condition dictates what someone will pay.

Well, I will be the odd guy out again as far as value.:D In this case, condition greatly affects value. If this gun is in very good condition, I believe you would get more than $175.00 for it. The model 84 in 28 gauge is not very common. Just see how long it takes to find one for sale, especially in very good condition. How many have you seen on this forum or other forums for sale compared to the other gauges. Not many. Now we are talking model 84 and not 840. I don't know if all the 28 gauges were the same but the one I have has a stock that is different than the rest of the model 84's. I don't know if it is because of the gauge but the forearm is sleeker than the model 84 .410 I have and the stock is slimmer with a prince of whales type grip instead of the regular square type pistol grip. It is a nice little upland gun. I see on another site where someone has been looking for over 2 months for a model 84 in 28 gauge. There aren't that many of them for sale. Now if the gun is in average or lower condition, then yes it is only about a $150.00 gun. The model 840 in 28 gauge is a lot more plentiful and won't bring as much. In fact, I bought one in 28 gauge a few months ago for $125.00. But if you don't need the cash, I would keep the gun in the family.

Keep it, it is worth more to you as a family heirloom than it is to someone else as a hunting gun. But if you have to sell it, contact me, I am always interested in 28 gauge shotguns, especially Cooey 84s.

Just to clarify. If it is the model 84, at that time Winchester had nothing to do with Cooey so it would only say Cooey on the gun. Winchester didn't take over until 1961 and they brought out the model 840. If it does actually say Cooey Winchester on it, then you probably have the 840.
