Sounds like you're about to embark on a life-changing journey. I too can't help you with the pointing dog training, but I will suggest a few fundamental concepts nomatter what training source you use.
1. Train short sessions as often as you can - keep 'em wanting more.
2. Quit on success, rather than adding skills until the dog fails. If you go too far by mistake, backtrack, succeed, then quit.
3. Remember that any of the dogs failings are really your failings - with that in mind it's a lot easier to identify problems and find solutions to them.
