Hi folks.

I'm planning to put a Bushnell 3200 10X40 onto my Norc with an ARMS #18 mount. I have a couple of questions:

#1. Is this a 1" or a 30mm main tube? I looked at both the WS and Bushnell sites, and neither seems to specify. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here. I promise not to take offense if somebody points out where this info is located.

#2. What height rings should I be looking at here? Medium?

#3. I know that the M14 has a reputation for being hard on scopes/mounts/etc. Does anyone have any suggestions about particular models of rings that are extra robust or that will lock extra solid onto the ARMS #18? I'd kinda like rings with throw levers, but I'm not fixated on that idea.

1" tube.
Get the 1" insert as the ARMS rings are 30mm
#22 Throw lever rings make going to irons nice and easy
Medium height

x2 on the throw levers..... that's what i'm getting.... but they are 30mm and you can order them as a kit with the spacers.... wolverine supplies has em

I ran several sets of ARMS #22 rings on some of my M14s and they worked pretty good.

The only thing about them is that the ARMS throw levers can be inconsistent in their clamping pressure.

Sometimes you got a set that was fine, and sometimes you got one ring that didn't seem to clamp that tight.

IMHO, Larue makes the best clamping rings/mounts, but I don't know if they offer reducing spacers so you can use a 1" tube scope.

The throw lever rings are great if you want to quickly use your iron sights. If you aren't going to remove the scope, I would opt for a decent set of standard rings (IE, TPS........)

I recommend the Leupold Quick Release Weaver rings. 1" mediums will work with the 3200. This is what is on my 14 today.

The Leupy rings don't look as cool as ARMS side throw rings , but the Leupold rings are 1/2 the price, excellent quality, and the screw release levers will clamp TIGHT on rails of various width, while the ARMS levers will not.

Figure you could get lows on there? Is this also a Bushnell 3200 10x40?

Have a set of lows in one of my parts boxes, thinking about getting an ARMS 18 for the lowest mounted scope I can get. But I wasn't sure if lows would give me enough room over the already fairly low ARMS mount.

Anyone know offhand?

This is an Arms 18 with generic medium 30mm rings and a 56mm objective lens.

I have a Leupold 4.5-14X40 tactical.I don't think I could get lows on mine.
The outer diameter of the objective lens is probably bigger on the leupold
cause it's adjustable.

Jeez, looks like tons of room! If you can get a 56mm objective in with the mediums, I would guess a 40 with the lows would be room to spare!

Sorry to say, but those look like ARMS high rings in that pic.............Medium rings would not give you that much clearance. I have used Low, Med, and High ARMS rings on the Smith and ARMS mounts...............

To have enough clearance and keep your rear sight, Medium rings are the lowest that will work with most scopes.

SB,

:agree: Quite possible. It's been awhile since I've put it together, and my oldtimer's disease kicks in once in awhile;) Coulda sworn I ordered mediums. At least our visuals should clarify things a bit.

Hi there. I realize this is an old post. I'm just wondering if you happen to still have those two pictures available. I am trying to pick out some rings for my M305-Bushnell rig, but I can't seem to find a straight answer when I run my searches.

If you are a $ frugal SOB like me, I just buy a few of the Millett Angle-Loc rings and keep each different height set in my tool/parts box for trial fitting moments like this.

Now to streamline your inventory, I only buy scopes (choose 1" or 30mm diameter) in 30mm tube diameters so that I always know that I will have the correct height rings. Now, I can safely guess that none of us here with M1A or Norc M14's are going to be deploying soon to a hot and sandy location so these Millett Angle-Loc rings (MysticPlayer loves the Burris Zee Rings) will suit your needs for casual competition or hunting; unless you are hunting out of a helicopter or LAV, then you might consider the Mark4, Badger, TPS, or other bombproof tactical rings. :D

Hope this helps! Let us know what rings you select! :)

Cheers,
Barney

I got tired of waiting (an entire day lol) for an answer, so I bought the ARMS 22 Medium as per some recommendations. Having said that, I just had a look at those Millett Angle-Loc rings and I like them. I might order a few sets for future projects. Thanks for the tip.

You can never go wrong with that set of ARMS22 rings. Good on ya!

Anyone know who stocks 30mm medium Leupold QRW rings in Canada. Cabelas doesn't and Wholesale does (so says their web site but who really knows with Wholesale). If not in Canada what about the USA? Do these require an Import Certificate and U.S. DOS approval for export from U.S. dealers? I tried Brownells but didn't get a straight answer. Thanks.
