Suggestions for a really good 270 bolt action

*I'm shooting a rem 700 bdl ss dm in .300 winmag.
*I'm going to keep that, just want something a bit "lighter" for my shoulder.
** My criteria is: synthetic stock, detachable mag, ss/barrel , good trigger.

Well, if your happy with your 300 Winmag., why not get the same gun in .270?
You already know how the trigger feels, you already know how the bolt feels, ou already know how the gun weight/balance feels.
Why Change/Risk that??
Failing that, have you checked out the Weatherby Vanguard line?

If I were to own a 270, I would go one of two routes:

Sako model 85

or

Custom Mauser 98

I had a 270 axis do not let the plastic clip scare you I never ever had a problem and I had 3 axis in different calibres. Only sold it to buy a savage 114 ss classic. If you want to start with a 270 and see how it fits, definately buy the axis

If it were me, I'd carefully consider either a Tikka T3 or a Browning X-bolt.

1. Tikka T3
2. Browning X-Bolt

Tikka T3, you won't regret it.

Another vote for the Tikka. Mine has everything on your wish list and has harvested about a dozen big game in the last year. At least some of that credit goes to the Tikka.......

Honestly, I don't know, just never had any other I suppose. I handled a Sako IV last nite and liked it but the optilok dovetail arrange is a bit odd and pricey for ring and base setup, $200 . I can get the gun new for $1100 tax in tho.
