NcStar (3-9X42 P4 Sniper) question

rigth from NCstars website took all of 30 seconds to find on google.

I need an owner's manual for my NcSTAR product. Can I order one directly from
NcSTAR?

You can download a copy of the instruction manual from this site. If you cannot find

It's a chinese piece of garbage (sorry - NCStar and I don't get along ;)), so it would likely be in Meters. I have a hard time believing at any reasonable distance that you can still see (less than 100 m/y based on my experience with their glass) that a BDC (which in even very GOOD scopes are 'rough estimates') that it won't matter at all.

I'd take it to a range and confirm. My guess is that it's in meters.

Make sure you do not mount that scope on anything stronger than a 22 mag, it will get damaged with more recoil... JP.

Soo... is it yards or meters?

I just bought a 3-9x42E NcStar (illuminated) compact....:yingyang:...the manual says 1/4" of movement per click at 100 yards........

The P4 reticle is divided into 5 MOA increments ("aprox. 5 inches at 100 yards")......

We'll see how the scope holds up to .223 recoil on my Kel-Tec SU-16  - but seeing as how the scope comes with a AR-15 handle-mount (and actually seems to be bought in fair numbers by Americans headed to Iraq - who knew ? ) , I'm feeling hopeful...

Thanks Cyclone.

My pleasure :yingyang: - I'll post a range review when I get a chance....

The only things I noticed about the version of NcStar I bought was that the graduations along the crosshairs are really only visible when illuminated (that's not a big issue with me, personally, seeing as how I mainly use the intersection... :sniper: ), and that on the 9x setting the image is less-than-crisp (though 8x seems fine, go figure ?....;)..)...but other than thought, still optimistic.

On a 223 it may stand a while but Murphy law is when you are ready to shoot the biggest coyote you realise the crosshairs are gone, happen to one of my friend... JP.

Let us know how that scope works on you SU-16. I have the Kel-Tec on order and am researching scopes now.

I dunno :yingyang: , I hope I've got one of the good ones ?

My Fitco 3-12X40 has "survived" a pretty long while on my AR-180B (and while I do know it's not the same, NcStar stuff on my rimfires and SKS has never failed me in terms of "zero-retention-at-magnification" :) ), so my personal experience with "cheaper" scopes has been positive thus far.....:D

Truth be told ;) , I bought it as a total gamble....I have a spare 4x NcStar compact scope that came with an SKS mount, and while I'm hoping the 3-9x works on the SU-16, I do have what to fall-back on.

A lot of it is "managing expectations", IMHO - the windage is fine on my other 4x NcStar but the elevation maxes out too quickly, though at the distances (and for the frequency) that I'm using the SKS it's really bothering me at all.

Oh, and I do have Bushnell and Leupold "glass" too - but I'm always looking for "niche" scopes that fill an odd need at a lower price....(i.e. I'm not ready to mount a Leupold compact on an SKS anytime soon, and I store my SU-16 scoped & folded in a locked 27-inch "AR-micro" bag).

The MR-1 is one if not the most accurate semi auto 223 rifle on the market, with my handload it will shoot one inch groups all day, i would not cheap out on glass for that rifle, it deserve the best, my own wear a 1.1X4X20 S&B Short dot and it do pay back... Regards. JP.
