The mossberg, remington and ruger tactical .22's are non restricted form he factory. You could make them restricted if you choose

The Mossberg is non-restricted and i paid $300 last year, you can find them for $269 now, another option is to get a ruger 10-22 and put a Marauder stock on it.

How is the quality of the mossberg?
ie - if one was looking for a decent quality tactical style .22 - would the VTR or the SR-22 be the best options? Or is the mossberg pretty robust? (I think the lower is plastic, right?)
Also, pricing between the VTR & the SR-22 are close - any reason to choose one over the other?
And how does the ISSC compare to the VTR & SR-22 (considering it is 25% more expensive)?

The Mossberg is cheap and feels like it (upper and lower one piece and plastic), the VTR and SR-22 i am not sure never used or picked them up.
The mossberg is accurate enough with the good ammo but if i had the choice again i would go for something like the ISSC or even 10-22 with Marauder.
The ISSC feels really nice, its upper is alum and lower is plastic, but its expensive.
The SR-22 is a pain to break down and clean. I'm guessing it's like that with both the mossburg and VTR.
The VTR from what I've read had jam issues. I bet the same sort my friend is having with his SR-22.
I really like the M&P 15-22 cause is breaks down so easily for cleaning. However it's restricted.

Remember that the mossberg needs the plastic shell removed to get at the internals,it will not break in to upper and lower like the other rifles, its one piece and it means taking out all the screws to remove the shell, but its cheap
If you can wait the 715T will be out soon, and looks a lot nicer than the old mossberg 22 tactical.

I liked the quality of my mossburg so much (not).
That i went out and bought a 10/22 for 500$ , the mosburg sits locked up now and will get sold after i get it fixed on warenty.
Not a hater , but i do call it like i see it from my experiance with the gun

22 tactical is 18 inch barrel, carry handle and fixed sights $269
715T is flattop, 16 1/4 barrel, removable sights and flashhider $309
The 715T seems pretty interesting. Does anyone know who'll carry it first? Also, how is it when it comes to feeding, servicing and accuracy? The price is right and it's North American made. By the way, vendors listing it say that it has an 18" barrel.
Although the above pre-assembled rifles are awesome, please consider upgrades to a Ruger 10/22. They are inexpensive to buy the base rifle, and you can strap another stock on very quickly. Its a well built receiver, and I have not had any issues after about 2500 rounds or more through it.
It's alot of fun.
I went with the Tapco stock, and initially had a cheap Red Dot Tasco on it. It was great, and I kept it like that for a year. Just recently put a Bushnell scope on it.
I am very happy with my 10/22. In the future I may buy a different stock, but the whole thing keeps me happy, and Ive moved on from that to wasting money on my other toys.
It's alot of fun.
