I just pict up this old tasco #706 target scope fore $75.00 with mounts is ther a adapter for the mounts I know nothing about the scope or mounts I got it to be cool haha
 
These were used and still are by some target and casual benchrest shooters. All I have seen have the front base mounted on the barrel. I do not think they will take much recoil if just mounted on the receiver, as the scope is quite long. Depending on which rifle you wish to mount it on will be the test for barrel mounted base.

I dont know what in going to do with the scope just like the way it looked LOL ferst time i will buying a rifle fore a scope and not the other way arond!
