The kids are cutting into my hunting time, even my 12 year-old is conspireing against me now.:( She got these two yesterday afternoon, filling her non-trophy MD tags. Savage muzzleloader with Leupold 3.5-10 VX-111, 300 gr SSTs, 42 grs SR4759. 75 and 150 yards. She's actually poseing with the wrong gun, but close enough.

I think this thread says quite a bit about Saskatchewan flatlanders and how they raise their kids right! She will make a quite a catch some day for a lucky guy. A tip of my hat to you sir on doing an A1 job there.

Give my best to her on that nice mule deer. :)

I have always found people in Sask to be nice friendly folks. When I stopped for a day in Saskatoon I was treated A1 everywhere I went, and in fact the folks right across Sask were nothing but friendly. It was back in '97 and I had the Anti C-68 bumper sticker and my own Reform campaign sign on the back of the old '85 Dodge W150 pickup and I got honks and waves along the road....not bad with Ontario plates. LOL

Very impressive! Had to show my 12 year old son - he's like "She can do that? She knows how to use a muzzle loader? Doesn't she have to be 16?". I said yes, yes and no. LOL!

That's the problem, let one of your kids on and you almost have to let the other two on too. Then only one of them knows how to open a gate, none drive or chip in for gas and any of them could just randomly decide to watch a raccoon, eagle or coyote instead look for deer. It's very trying. Yesterday she watched this little coulee for a couple hours and missed seeing a couple whitetail bucks until I woke up to point them out. Kids just don't pay attention, I tell ya. Granted, she knew all about eagles and magpies.

Cool ..... I think it's good for a kid to learn of some of the realities of life that they normally would not learn living in suburbia. Good one you.

I took both my girls hunting and while they don't continue to hunt on their own, they know what has to happen before meat hits the plate and have an appreciation for it.

Took my 11 year old daughter out to Pemberton hoping for some deer or bear. Unfortunately didn't see a single one out there. And then it rained...like seriously and we had to go. Oh well... :(

Thats the beauty of hunting and being close to the land. Nature is captivating and we can set our minds free...

When Im out hunting, I often find myself day dreaming till I realize I've got a gun in my hand and I can shoot...

As we get older its good to see the kids growing up and having the same passion for the land and the game.:)
 
Congratulations. My daughter is 11 and couldn't be bothered with guns. She is too girly.

One of my daughters isn't likely to be a hunter either. She shot a few ducks and that was the end of that. She will go target shooting with .22 handguns, .22 rifle and .223 though. She's about as girly as they get, but the handgun cool factor wins.:D
