What's really amazing is that there's a newspaper article about it and the idea of selling them to citizens is "acceptable" to the writer and editor.

The math isn't right. Federal government math is much more complex and stupid than even the New math.

This government will tender bids for the disposal and end up paying some"buddies" *wink* business a few hundred G's to destroy something that most of us would gladly pay for!!

Sad alright.
So how many would you buy at $400 a piece? How quickly would 19,000 of these get soaked up?
What else is the government sitting on? This could be their way out of national debt!! haha yeah right.

Anyone else notice the order for smelting is coming from the Conversative government ?

How about that long gun registry...lets smelt that instead, just like you promised, Harper.

This is why I don't care about politics or voting anymore.

As a side note, don't these Canadian property marked Brownings go for over $1000 ?

It is a newspaper article so the accuracy is suspect.

I'd bet $20 the DND is following policy set by a previous government and not acting on specific orders from the current gov't. The dig at the CPC is the one sign of screaming-lefty journalism in the article.

You know... we own these things.
We bought and paid for them.
Our fathers carried them through two major wars and many, many smaller conflicts.
They carried them in the defence of a nation which is now being run by the most disconnected, arrogant, self-righteous and fascist sons-of-#####es on Earth.
I am ####ing pissed. Really ####ing pissed.
Good Old General $hit-for-brains and that slack-jawed yokel Defence Minister we have see nothing wrong with using CF aircraft as their own personal kit...like some entitled Saudi prince.
Yet when it comes time to do the right thing and release bona-fide pieces of Canadian history to the very people who carried them in the field...THEY SAY NO !!!
Who the hell is running the show in Ottawa... a bunch of f^cking Barneys...that's who.
Man o man wow. Mad now.

this policy was started under Liberal's way back when, all the FN's ,Stirling's ,and 1919's and all there spare parts in the smelter. all because of liability.

I've taken her out of the safe and put some CLP on her... I'm going to have a nice glass of red wine now, a half bottle of Mouton Cadet, I think. Perhaps the Fuzion.

And contemplate how we got ourselves into this mess.

I really don't see it as a Liberal/Conservative/NDP/whoever issue. It seems ALL the Western governments are pissing on their citizens as of late. And telling us it's just a nice warm, spring rain.

Unfortunately it all comes down to liabilty..its not right..Our Service went from Beretta's to Glock's..myself as well as several other guys wanted to purchase our old guns..we were not allowed to purchase the guns as they were given to other services for parts guns...the reason..they do not want one of those guns to be involved in a crime and traced back to being an ex Service sidearm..its bull#### and many were not happy as in this case

Guys just settle down ... We've already been sending letters to our MPs regarding this issue ... Go check out the Action Center. Old News.

I :puke: in my mouth a little bit when I read that today:(. Then my poor wife had to listen to my half hour rant! Would I pay $400 cdn for one....you betcha! Sh1t....I'd buy two for that:eek: Can we not organize this somehow through gunnutz to petition the government before they turn this history into useless ingots:confused:

understandably, as we know, the CPC GVT wants to keep a low profile facing the leftists opinion about firearms, even more when it's about pistols-revolvers.

what i understand there, is that, even if basically they might want to get a part of the huge value on the resale market ( wich i believe it probably is ) of those more than nice and very valuable pistols ( i would buy 2 at least if they were available,i'm all about a pistol guy) , they dont want to shake the pandora's box .

a shame, i would like to see the CPC with more balls, but i think they want to catch up in the lefties ranks in the next elections. i can't see anything else than that.

Harper must remember that it was the gun owners of Canada who destroyed the solid-majority PC government of Avril Phaedra Campbell, reducing her to a massive TWO seats: the biggest loss of any party in any election in this country.

In this constituency we put "PAID" to a provincial pol's ambitions to go federal..... becase he lied to us by saying one thing and doing the opposite. Last time I saw him he was trying to sell real estate.

We also retired a good, solid Liberal MP after a single short term (so he didn't get his wonderful pension out of us) for much the same reason. Much of the damage came from a single-sheet pamphlet which was put out by 3 shooters, 1 of whom could only et part-time work, 1 of whom was unemployed and could not get EI. It cost us $23 to print 1700 pamphlets and distribute them. THREE of the CANDIDATES running against the Liberal made their own copies and sent them out in heaps. Liberal lost 1300 critical votes..... and the election.

We have done it before and we can do it again.

And the Government should remember this.

Democracy CAN be made to work.
