Thanksgiving birds

This weekend I was out moose/grouse hunting, and came across quite a few grouse. With my .22 and the power vested in me by my small game license, I took a few home. We took pictures of a few of them.

I'm getting ready to do the 'step on the wings and pull up' bit.

I got this one sunday after breakfast. You can see the hobo sling that was made in camp.

And just before breakfast, thanksgiving morning, not 200 yards from camp.

We saw a bull moose, but had a cow tag.
My first proper hunting trip, and I had a great time.

I see you live in the GTA...where do you hunt (if local-ish) where you can find grouse?

I got a couple this weekend up at the cottage in the Parry Sound area. OP might have even been close by. LOL

Lots of people on the trails though so I found myself eating pine needles trudging through the bush, but had to get at least a meal outta it. LOL

2 Ruffed Grouse for dinner tomorrow night!

Hah, I doubt there are any nearby, though I suppose someone may know better. I was actually a little north of kirkland lake, old logging roads. Quite a drive from here.

Parry Sound is only 3 hours.

There is lots of crown land down HWY 124 and a bit North.

But I'd be driving there/back on a Ninja...gets annoying fast with a rifle case on your back...I do not feel as Mad Max as I thought I was gonna

Prolly wouldn't be too comfortable on the ATV trails either. LOL
