One you can pull the trigger and it goes bang every time. The other you have to manually chamber a round between bangs. Both will be equally accurate, seriously.
The savage TR stock also has a cheap/homemade feel to it.
Suggestion?... don't do it! Save up and buy a savage later on, because you have a very cool gun in that 7000. But if you do send me a pm regarding your 7000
Keep the Marlin, buy the TR later if you want~they still make those!
As for the Savage~I can see the appeal in the TR (or TRR) if it's in .17 HMR, but not the .22 version. Just "feels" more like a costume for some reason. That's just my personal taste. I'd get a heavy barrel .22 like the Mark II BV. To each his own. Anyhow, I sure wouldn't get rid of that Marlin..unless like Mikeystew said, you want to sell it to me.
Why not keep the Marlin, and just pick up the Savage MKII FV for now, and get a stock from Boyds later on?
MKII FV = $250
MKII TR = $450
I did just that and honestly have changed my mind on the stock, at least for now. I just added a cheek pad I bought for $30 and she shoots very well!
If I do decide to buy a stock it will probably be a Target Hunter, or SS Evolution not the Tacticool that comes on the TR. All of them go for about $90 from Boyds, so you are still ahead as far as the price difference.
Heres the best so far. I have only put about 300 rounds downrange, and am still getting used to the accutrigger, as it is way different from my previous 10/22 Tactical Target.
50m, CCI Standard Velocity, bipod, and rear bag.(Damn Flyers)
SELL THE MARLIN TO ME and buy a Savage.
I sold my Marlin 7000 and have regretted it every day since.
Keep the Marlin, it is an amazing shooter.
I have the Savage and love it but I still miss my Marlin and wish I had both.
If you happen to need extra mags for the MKII, Al Simmons has them in stock.
