Shotshell Shot

I am getting back into reloading and was wondering the place place to order online #9 shot for 28ga.

Don't order online, local is best shipping will kill you for lead shot. Try Stittsville Shooting Range, they stock lots of different sizes of shot. Was in there today, they have a tonne of #8 shot, but I can't remember if I saw any #9. Give them a buzz.

#9 is pretty small and its often a by-product sifted out when producing larger shot, if available at all, other than a lead-shot manufacturer. Shot 6, 7, 7 1/2, and 8 are much more common to find (often cheaper) and will work problem free in small bore shotguns. I've loaded #9 for my .410 but went back to 7 1/2 for target, and #6 for upland game. Shot #9 had no penetration and would only dent the clay targets unless really close. Hunting with it was too many lost/run away birds.

I shoot skeet with #9 and have no problems at all. I use it for 12,20,28 and 410 Lots of 25's under my belt :D #8 is my favourite size of shot tho great for all clay sports.
