Is the Mossberg 930 SPX available in Canada?
If so, who carries them please?
Does Mossberg ship them without the mag tube extension
to make them legal in Canada?

I tried the search function but got no results.

To answer your questions in order,

No longer available, few got in. Very few.
Mossberg does not ship without extension (but there are variations available that do not have the extension (tactical, home security)

With one of these options, you can add a rail and an extension (properly blocked of course) tada, the closest thing you can get to a Canadian legal SPX (unless you find one for sale used)

As for who might carry them, Elwood and Frontier have them from time to time. There was one on the Equipment Exchange as well with a Choate bolt handle.

Maybe some other locations, but I do not know offhand.
 
I think I will just import one through Buffalo gun center....they must be able to remove the mag ext before doing the deal

I called mossberg a while back and they said they don't have export permits for these guns and that they were "restricted" in canada

I told them all they have to do is remove the mag ext and get export approval and they would have a pretty good canadian demand for these.

They said they may do so in 2012.

I've also heard they only apply for export permits once per year and don't revisit after doing so....

I think we might be on different pages. I meant get a home security model and get tacord to put the sights on. It would be cheaper probably and less hassle.

Ohh...for sure, there's got to be other dealers who have the HS model. Epps is bound to have them
 
Basically, I am building a Home Security model into an SPX, however, the front sight will be a Trijicon RE04. The position of the LPA Ghost Ring Rear Sight is not on top of the picatinny rail, rather, it is behind it. I have added a few things like the DLASK charging handle, orange follower as upgrades.

Badboybeeson (CGN member) +2 tube (it will be plugged for legal reasons), orange follower, spring

Once the LPA rear sight is installed (I am still waiting for my Smith!), I will have a small picatinny rail cut and installed just in front.

The last thing I will do to it is have it professionally arma-koated in a dull black. I am looking forward to it!
 
I have a bit of an update on the SPX 8-shot in Canada. I too have been trying to find one for quite some time. After sending a few emails, I was sent an update which containted a thread from a Canadian Mossberg distributor to the Canadian Mossberg rep.

Hello. Please see below.

I was not sure if you had created a new Model for Canada for a 5 round Model 930. I had tried to have a line extension for this request, however, I never could get the required quantity ordered (250units) for a new Model number.

We do have the 930 Tactical version which is a 5 shot capacity, but I believe they wanted the standard model 930-SPX but have the capacity restricted to comply with the Export laws.

So, it appears we need to gather an order of 250 units to have a "CSPX" line made (blackwaters and SPX in 5-shot).

who's in??

Many of us have asked the importers to do this many times.
250 guns is a drop in the bucket for most importers.
So the issues is with the MFG.
If anyone gets around to importing these I'd provide any of our 930 products at a very good price.
Mag tubes , safetys,followers railed forends bayonet mounts sidesaddles ect.

250 IS a drop in the bucket... but I guess Mossberg doesn't see it that way. Not sure what they are focusing on, but it isn't pleasing Canadian customers (my 2sense).

So, we are down to 245!! 2% there! can almost taste it.

Not sure if I am up to the (seemingly) labourious task to import my own (as per the sticky thread on importing), but if anyone else is, I have an extra $50 for you if you get me one too. Can't see why Mossberg would make 1 930 SPX 5-shot for me when they won't even make a dozen to ship to the great white north? Sadly.

Perhaps Mossberg will read this thread and have sympathy.
