EOHC any body a member?

I've been told by someone on the board that they have not had any classes for new members as there was questions as to whether they would be able to renew their lease. Apparently the issue is resolved as I received an email a couple weeks ago stating that they were accepting participants for an October class. 2-3 days later I received another email saying the class was already full but that they were hoping to put on another classs this year. Here's their e-mail join@eohc.ca

I'm a member but have not received any notification about the issue being resolved (nor news about renewing). ???

I've been a mamber for 10 years, but not renewing this year as a result of the uncertainties over the lease.

There are better clubs around Ottawa for lower member fees. (e.g. Smith's Falls, Grenville Fish and Game)

The president of EOHC is a member here...actually just about all of the Executive are.....

The thing to remember is that they all have day jobs and do not site there at their computers waiting for someone to send them email. Be patient. A delay of two or three days is certainly acceptable....we all put up with far longer delays for other things in life.

Ditto. So I emailed the New Members Director, the Secretary and the President. I received a message from Jeff (Members Director) with answers to some of my questions, but there are absolutely no details regarding the issues discussed at the AGM.

Their communications skills are piss-poor. How is it that they want participation from their membership when they can't even reply to a simple email message? Their phone number is strictly a voice message system, and they never send out important messages by snail mail. I understand it is volunteer-run and it can be a lot of work, but the Executive needs a good kick in the pants.

There is a lot of interest in this club, and they're not making themselves/us look good to potential newcomers. I am still on the fence with my renewal.

meatgrinder, I recommend you send your email to join@eohc.ca, secretary@eohc.ca and president@eohc.ca. Jeff will be the first to answer (and he is fairly prompt and very easy to deal with - just overwhelmed with requests). Copying the secretary and president is just a way to make sure the Executive are aware that they need to work on their service delivery skills.

I didn't see you jumping up and down with your hand up to run for a position on the Exec at the AGM.....if anything is piss poor and needs a kick in the pants, it's your attitiude.

Assuming that I were on the executive, (I'm not) why the f*ck would I want to deal with someone acting like you are? Don't forget, members of the executive are members here, EOHC is a simple search term so they see your comments. Face it, it's not that hard to figure out who a particular CGN member is....

What I said here, I've already told the Executive. I have nothing to hide. If you think this is attitude, then you must live in a fantasy world. I speak the truth. If you don't like it, stop reading.

FWIW, I was in Central America during the AGM. I said my piece in another thread. I've been communicating with the Executive, and I'm trying to help work things out. You're welcome.

Ah well in that case it's all okay then......

Maybe wait until there IS final resolution so that someone has to address, stamp, and mail 500 or so envelopes only once?

I'm in the dark like everyone else, and curious like everyone else, but I guess I have more patience than some?

I can also make some assumptions. They are doing a new members course, so there must be a club to go to in the future, as new membership was suspended temporarily in August.

As far as renewing..... every fall around this time? There is a notice in the clubhouse reminding that renewals are due at the end of November (I think it was). Same as every other year?

I know it's frustrating sometimes when things don't happen fast enough (memberships, lgr gone, all kinds of stuff) but you have to remember, like DrNick said, these are volunteers with lives and jobs, and yes they have taken on a role in the exec, but that doesn't mean it becomes their "be all and end all."

Maybe we can raise membership fees enough to hire a few people to deal with phonecalls, e-mails, snail mails, renewals, new att's, etc as a career. (sarcasm)

How about a volunteer to keep the website up to date?

Sorry for the rant, but I get a little annoyed at people bashing volunteers when I see the majority of them will show up, shoot, then leave without even so much as putting their target stands away, picking up their shot-to-hell paper off the floor, maybe dump a garbage can into the bin twelve feet away or some other "volunteer" activity to keep the it a decent place to shoot.

(rant not directed at anyone in particular)

I've been a Member of EOHC for some time,

I Believe at the AGM a 60 day delay was decided on the issue of if the club was continuing or not (Which should be up pretty soon) so we should all know whats going on in time for the Renewal season (Nov)

As for the Site,
They do have a web master on staff, And i believe there are more people going to be getting involved with it for some major updates. it's been more or less unmaintiained for 3 years whats a few more months. Until then, I imagine we will just continue to use CGN.

As for the Wait times...
Like Nick said.. they (Like the rest of us) do have lives... and in my experience it's not uncommon to wait 3 days ... a few weeks or even to never to get a response. it all depends who you are trying to contact.

Just my 2c..
~Drew

didn't mean to raise a stink.... just thought maybe there was a member of the club that could help me out. Thank you for all the feed back and I will be patient.

You didn't raise any stink. We sit around waiting for the EOHC to appear in the thread name and then jump. Happens every time :)

Hang tight and someone will be in touch re membership.

So seriously, do you need to know some one on the inside? I received a pm shortly after I originally posted this message saying I would be on the the list for the next sign up and I've asked twice since then if there was any news and no response. honestly if there were any other options I might consider. I think I have been pretty patient however maybe i'm wrong. Is this normal? and if I do get a response is it going to be short notice? Some us have to book time off for week ends.

Peice of mind anyone?
