It would not affect the gas lock. In fact the combination of the two would be desireable.
This gas lock sound like it may be able to improve barrel harmonics via adjusting cylinder to barrel tension at the gas lock, not behind it.
The way I would go about this is to Unitize the gas system, which prevents any movement on the barrel. Improving harmonics by making gas band and cylinder a one piece unit.
Then install and first deal with port alignment by trial fitting the adjustable gas lock. Tighten til everything is snug and check port. If good, then leave it. If it's got poor alignment at the ports, peen the gas band shoulder or shim accordingly.
This would then allow for true tension adjustment, while maintaining port alignment.
And with the cylinder unitized, the gas band can not move or shift while adjusting the gas lock as the barrel heats and cools.
That's the way I'd do it anyways. Will be good to put one thru the paces.
