New winchester levers?

i've talked to a few people about these both gun smiths and hunters they seem quite pleased the steel itself is AAA funtion and fit are nice, they say although yes they are made in japan that it is a high quality firearm were talking japan not china remember, the price seems a little high just my thought 1000$ however i take 1 in 38-55.
I'll just wait for one to come up for sale on E.E.

I'd take a 336 Marlin for less than half the price.
I've owned three different leverguns made in the Miroku factory in Japan and have examined several more. All had excellent fit and finish. There is no comparison in quality between a Marlin and a Miroku-made Winchester. I prefer originals myself, but the Miroku-made leverguns are first class modern leverguns ..... in fact, I would say they are the highest quality levergun made today.
Gotta watch them Marems.
Hear tell, some of them aren't half the gun they used to be!
With enough discipline, I've avoided some purchases to save up for a 1892 Trapper Takedown .357...should be in my hands next week.
Had a look at one last year and was thoroughly impressed with the fit and finish.
The wood was fitted and carved to mate exactly with it's gorgeous blued metal.
I also would have to agree that Miroku makes the best modern lever rifles.
Evident as well with my Browning .22lr levers.
As pricey as they are...($1380 is what I paid)....I don't plan on buying anything else like it in it's class...(yeah right.)

O I hate you. I had a 44mag trapper takedown in my hands last year and passed and have been kicking myself since. I jumped on this one which was the last in stock because I was afraid to loose out on another pistol cal trapper
I'll bet it's going to be a beaut.
I want to get one in .44, finances permitting.

My thoughts exactly...I didn't want to lose out as well.
The one I ordered was last on my lgs's list because they were limited runs or shot show specials.
As a matter of fact...I would have preferred .44 mag.
But no worries, as I've got plenty of .357/.38spl reloads coming out of my wazoo.
One thing though, I expect a nice range report of yours and some pretty pics!!!

When I was at Winchesters booth at SHOT, all the Americans were whining about the 'made in Japan' stamp on the barrel.
The time when stuff from Japan was crap is long past. These rifles are absolutely top quality.
No, I don't like the price either, but, Marlin's new rifle quality absolutely sucks.
Looks like Japan has turned the tables WRT rifles.
I think Winchester is going to have a tough row to hoe selling 1894s in .30-30 for what they are asking. They just don't have the same "old west" appeal as an 1886 or 1892. I can see more of a demand for 1886s and 1892s given the cost of originals, especially if they offer better quality than the Brazilian or Italian copies or Marlins.
