Hello,

I would like to know if the following tang sight is period correct or could be factory installed on that Mod 94 38-55 made in 1894

Looks like the correct peep sight but the aperture is missing. The front and rear sights are Marbles, not standard on Winchesters but you can rarely ever say never when you are talking about old Winchesters. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Winchester would give the customer just about anything they desired. Either way they are period sights and don't detract greatly from the value.
I sometimes remove a tang peep from a Winchester and there is often factory bright blue underneath the sight. A good indication it left the factory with a peep as the old Winchester blue wore off those actions awfully fast.

The correct period Lyman tang sight for a model 1894 in 38-55 should have the letter D stamped on the underside of the base.

Powderman
