Ran into another hunter, boy did he whoops!

Just an entertaining story that happened this morning.

Went out to sit in my stand with my bow this morning, when I went back to my vehicle(without an animal for those that are curious)I ran into three individuals dressed appropriately for rifle season and one fellow carrying his rifle heading back to their vehicle, which was in plain sight from the road.

Asked him how it was going and if they saw anything, he said no.I said nothing for me either.

Asked what kinda black powder he was using in a joking way since it isn't rifle season for anything.

He said oh no, we are hunting moose. I said really??

I asked him just to check his knowledge if they opened up this zone for moose this year as they did with some others.He said he didn't know(I knew damn well there is no moose season in this zone).

He then asked what zone we were in, I told him, I am pretty sure it is 51 but you can double check your guide cause I have made mistakes before.

Told him, "Just FYI, don't wanna see ya busted!!"

I proceeded to tell him to be careful, two separate CO's live on that road, one within 1 mile of where he was the other within 2.

His friends looked a bit shocked!

plus you imply he and his friends were walking (not in a truck) which suggest non-native as well (hunting or poaching? who's to say)...

yeah, but I have seen blue eyed blonds with status cards....a lot of status natives don't look native at all, so it's hard to say for sure.

I saw a guy pull out the native card in Walmart to not pay the tax and judging by his Scottish accent and flaming red hair I'd say his name would have been Duncan McTavish.
So ya never know. I guess he married a native or something.
But these guys may have been goegrafically challenged at the time.

No, it's the rest of us have to be not on their traditional territory. They can exercise their particular rights and privileges on Crown land.

I'm not native nor am I well versed in native rights, but I'm sure a native (gunnut too btw) told me this about a year ago as well.

Regardless of rights, I think he meant to be hunting a bit further north.I didn't start the thread to debate aboriginal hunting rights.

It is easy to get confused.You have to know the area and what roads and boundaries constitute WMZ's.

I could have been an a**hole and took his plate number, blah, blah , blah, but I didn't.I am sure if he didn't know what season he was hunting he could have assumed I didn't know mine and tried to report me also.Been down that road before!

Thanks for clarifying...so my next question would have to be, and HOW is this not discrimination?????????
The Native nation anthem should be :
"THIS LAND IS MY LAND....IT'S NOT YOUR LAND...FROM...etc, etc"
I'm not saying they don't deserve there rights, I"m just saying we should all enjoy the same rights in Canada....PERIOD !!!

That is absolutely false. I personally know several natives who have been both charged and convicted for hunting and fishing out of season in Ontario. The local game warden spends lots of his time chasing them too.....

This is incorrect too. Nuisance deer require a permit to cull. I'd love to hear a CO or LEO chime in here......
